I'm watching the Blue Angels do flybys from my office window. They started practicing for Fleet Week today.

That's pretty cool. For a day or two before the air and water show here a lot of the planes will fly around the city practicing. I know people who work in high rise office buildings downtown and they say sometimes the windows will shake because they get so close

I tried to take a picture with my phone, but they're moving too fast.

Something similar happened to me, circa 1997.

I was visiting a customer who was located at the north end of Boeing field, South Seattle, WA. The Blue Angels seemed to come out of nowhere. They were about 50 feet above me, scaled the runway in a few seconds without touching it (they must having been doing 300mph), then soared back high into the sky.

The sheer power of them just blew me away. I was in trance when I opened the lobby door. I notice several "frozen" people who greeted me with smiles.

I love fighter jets even more than F1 cars.

We had the Thunderbirds here a couple weeks back, those F16's sure can make a lot of racket, music to my ears.

Yeah, they've been flying the weekend of HSBG festival, which was last weekend, in the past.

Pretty entertaining watching Steve Earle flip them the bird mid song.

Pretty sad to be 'entertained' by war machines. I'm with Steve Earle on this one.

Planes flying is separate from war. Even though these planes were designed for combat their performance is unbelievable. The comparison to F1 cars isn't that far off, what these planes can do in the air in an exhibition setting is an awesome sight to see.

& the cost to be entertained?

I wonder what the financial cost 1 of these performances is? How many people could be fed? How much shelter could be provided? ...well, you get the idea.

I've always looked at them as a live commercial for the war machine.

    I don't get it either.

When I was at NAS Pensacola for GSE school, the blue angels practiced every Wednesday. They'd fly pretty low to the deck and made it impossible to have a conversation outside. Every few minutes they'd come screeching by. Was amazing at first, but after 9 months of school there it got irritating. Still better than Harriers though.

Oh man that's awesome, I love watching them perform. I wouldn't be getting any work done myself...

A while back there was an air show by The Roulettes down over the beach....

When they did a display they flew inland a bit to regroup for the next display... they turned right over my house....

I tried to get a few pics on their turns....
