Hey I was there a little while back. While I was out of work I kept telling my wife "Don't worry things always work out". I was laid off for a week shy of a year. The week before I was hired at a new job I was approved for a 6 month unemployment extension. If you live in a state that sucks for benefits it could be bad. I was collecting full benefits because I had a pretty well paying job before I was laid off.

I hope you kept your favorite guitar at least. Like they said before you could earn some bucks with it anyway. If you're on the streets busking it could at least be a steady source of food.

I always kidded my wife that we could sell enough to get plane tickets to Japan. They love American rock over there, so I could go pro as a last resort.

I see you're in AZ. My sister was laid-off there. They have incredibly low benefits. My sister moved back to Wisconsin to be by and get family support.

I have some books if you're interested. I got them at a library sale when I was out of work. If you're interested I will give them to you. Here's what I have:

The Very Quick Job Search J. Michael Farr ISBN 1-56370-181-2

Adams Cover Letter Almanac 600 cover letters. ISBN 1-55850-497-4

What you need to know about getting a job & filling out forms ISBN 0-8442-5657-9

High Impact resumes & letters ISBN 0-942710-20-7

If you want any of these, one or all, let me know . No cost to you. Send me a PM or e-mail with the mailing address and which books you would like.

    I'll pay shipping too.

Sorry to hear it Targ, I'm close to that point myself. I can only hope things will turn upwards for you soon. Just keep your head up, regardless of what comes. Blessings sent.

Targ, you might want to let us all know what type of work you are looking for and where you are going to be moving. Maybe someone has a lead on a job.

    Hey targ
I am here in Tucson AZ and have been laid off most of the last 2 years as well. I feel ya' bro. I was just laid off again december 6th. Most of my stuff is gone too and in pawn shops(what few I havent lost already) lost my house and car and lots more. I know it doesn't help but ,you are not alone. Lets commiserate.

Like you I am growing tired of the struggle. I have whittled down to the few musts and the rest(what little is left) is expendable.

I won't lather the point with platitudes. I will say...good luck.

This, and the ones like it, is a sad thread. Where is Charles Dickens when we need him? Good luck, Targ, and I hope you can keep a few.

Sorry to hear your situation is so bad, Targ. It's small consolation, I know, that so many of us are in the same boat. I've been looking for work for much longer than I'd like also. It's scary. Hang in there, and good luck to all of us.

    RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!

SO DIG THIS; 16 months after applying for Mortgage Relief - guess who calls?
Not ONCE, Not TWICE...But FIVE TIMES inside of 60 minutes.
We're already in Chapter 7 and been outta work since August 2009.

All we really want is to move down to The Islands and stay LOST.
They can take it all - if it makes us this sick - it's worthless anyway.

Once again, thanks to all of you for your well wishes. I'm moving to Michigan to make my final stand. It's cheaper there and I can hold out longer.
Luckily things are selling well. So..
