But I do most .22 shooting with a conversion bolt and magazines in my ARs. Mucho fun.

Re: John's Nylon 66, I too am a fan ... a buddy has the Apache version in black and chrome, very sharp!

Here's my Winchester 69-A, which was my Grandad's (original owner); I used it with him as a kid and was an honored inheritor when he passed in the mid-70's. Being the 69's 'A' follow-up version, and having the straight bolt lever, puts it at between later 1930's and earlier 40's, as far as I can tell. Clip holds five. The scope, a Weaver G4 out of El Paso, is maybe 1940's/50's. I take it out only about once a year and it always works like a charm!

Also, the 6-digit card number doesn't seem to apply any Remington model; I'm guessing that's just his given owner number ... as the card is plastic not paper, guessing also that it's a Rem model he bought some years later than the Winchester. UMC is as Mouth posted, Union Metallic Cartridge co. They made ammo from sometime in the 1800s and merged with Remington sometime in the early 1900s.

Is there anything more funner than a day out with a sighted-in .22?

Nothing that's legal! My idea of fun like this is calling a friend to come over with their .22s, grab one of my rifles and revolvers, a few hundred or more rounds, (shorts for the revolvers: no ear protection needed) a bunch of old golf balls and a fresh cut back yard/lawn.
Shoot/chase a ball 'til it gets out of range or sight (I only have open sights) and throw out another one. It's more fun having a reactive target instead of punching paper or cans which is still fun.
PSA: Once while doing this I engaged an angry golf ball. I hit it with a short out of a Ruger Single Six and immediately felt a hard sting on the front of my left shin. No hole in my pants but the skin was broken slightly. I laid my gun down to mark the spot and went to get my old metal detector, came back and found the almost perfectly rounded bullet that ricocheted off the ball and nailed me. Couldn't believe it after hearing warnings/stories throughout my shooting years but I think I still have that little sucker that hit me back.

When I was about 12 years old, we rented a cabin in NH and the owners let us know that there were a couple of gallery 22s hidden away that we could use. Octagonal barrel, nickel-plated guns, and I cannot for the life of me recall if they were pump or lever action. Shooting hundreds of gallery shorts was great fun. The only 22 I still own is one with which I would never part, an early 1960s Mossberg bolt action with a walnut stock and a Weaver 40X scope. It has an adjustable magazine that accommodates short, long, and long rifle. It's the stealthy annihilator of destructive varmints. I had an Erma .22 luger but parts were made of pot metal and it was too hard to keep it working.

I grew up with a singleshot .22
My dad figured it would teach me to make that shot count.
He was right! I wish I still had that rifle, can't recall exactly what it was, it had a lever action which is kind of ironic , since all that lever did was give you access to the chamber and eject the spent casing

My old 10/22 that I eventually graduated to does live at my mom's still.

It's a lousy silly pic but this is the bullet from a .22 short that bounced back off of a golf ball and beaned me a good one in the shin. This was likely a one in a million occurrence but did happen.

A lil .22 rifle is an essential for every homestead. Good for nuisence animals, and can certainly put some meat on the table if it gets hard to find at the store.
