yeah.

Also I make sure and tell my sister about EVERYTHING i take from that house.
People can get real funny over things like this, in ways you'd never expect

One large family I knew, I happened to be there when they came to his home after his passing. It was like watching eagles swoop down on prey! They had a plan in mind, each had his own desire which was quickly filled like a scene from a robbery in a movie. It was all over in moments! Swoosh, everything of any value was GONE!

yep, very familiar with that story.
so we strive to have open dialogue between my mom, my sister and I regarding the property and what will happen to it later. Sis shows little interest in it but I INSIST she have every opportunity to say differently, and I will continue to do so when mom is gone

seen too many families split up and then angry forever over stupid material "stuff"

I found this Rossi model 62 pump-action .22 'Gallery rifle' at a local shop yesterday, and due to it's premium condition, and the fact that I have been keeping an eye out for a nice example of this old-time 'super plinker' rifle for several years now, I bought it.
Nice find John. Looks like an early one. I have one that I purchased new in the mid 80's and the wood on yours is a lot better. These are like the original Winchesters in that it doesn't have a trigger disconnector. Hold the trigger back and pump away and it will fire. Mine is a 16" Carbine version, wish I had gotten the rifle version like you have with the 20" (iirc) barrel.

This Rossi company is the same outfit that manufactured model airplane motors, and these motors were about the best "production" competition FAI gas model that was available for a while. (disregard this; I think I may be wrong here)

I think it is amusing, the way my neighbor will take a very humble looking .22 much like this, and mount a super high end scope on it, to take out the small game in the acreage all around us. You don't need power, you need accuracy to get the job done.

Are you sure? Rossi model airplane engines were made in Italy. Those engines and the ones out of the old USSR ruled in FAI back in the day. Rossi firearms were made in Brazil. I'm a model airplane nut too.

When my mom's mother passed, (grandpa had been gone for years) the family wanted her to come back there and help fight over what little she had. My momma told them, I left Alabama, California is my home, you can have any and all of my part.

The irony of that story is, that they couldn't get the deed to the property, one day some people were out there doing clean up and found an envelope from my grandma "to who it may concern" written on it. Turns out she had given over the old home place to my cousin, it had been notorized, and it held up. My cousin has been living out there on the old home place for going on forty years!

Very cool .22 and so fun to shoot. I remember the carnivals with real shooting galleries and my friend’s Aunt Betty had an old Winchester pump she let him take squirrel hunting with me.

I grew up as the only family member who at a very early age wanted to shoot and hunt so I read Jack O’Connor in “Outdoor Life” and dreamed. When I finally was able to buy my first .22 my Dad steered me toward a Winchester 190 instead of the new Ruger carbine I lusted after and that troublesome 190 turned me off Winnies for life. I did at least follow Jack enough to get into bolt actions and as I took my first deer with a Remington 788 I remain a loyal fan many years later. I have 3 centerfire bolt actions and I think 5 in .22LR, and I love shooting at tiny little bulls from the bench with the .22s. I have two very accurate Remington sporter .22s + a CZ HB that can hammer but still gaze longingly at every Remington Model 40X and 540X that pops up for sale because, well, it’s a Remington!

Have fun with that Rossi!

When I was eleven years old, they still had shooting programs in school. I wanted to join up but was too poor to have a firearm. An older rich kid I knew, when I told him about the program, said go ahead and sign up, I'll loan you a Remington I used in the same program. It was a beautiful single shot bull barrel match gun made especially for target shooting. I had it for close on to two years before returning it. That thing would shoot a hole all the bullets would go through with only tiny tearing's at the edges!

A steel guitar engagment.
I love this thread and .22 rimfires are my favorite guns to shoot.
Need to go downstairs and take some pics. I know there's an older Savage .22 pump that I didn't like for years (jammed during feeding rounds into the chamber) until I found out you can't baby it. If you pump it fast with authority it functions without fail. Now I love it. Need to get a couple pics.
