Ok... is it just my aging eyes or is the action here ridiculously high? The low E appears to be like a cm over the fretboard!

    Check at around 0:36

Am I just seeing things or should this guitar not be playable pretty much?

It’s why it sounds so good.

    It does sound good!

I'm glad he doesn't play any chords though... intonation must be all over the place!

Doesn't seem to ever play that string so maybe he raised it to be out of his way?

That must be the A as well though, since they'd be on the same saddle, right? Unlikely.

No one told him there was a truss rod.

Rhythm and bass sound OK, and they're not even plugged in.
Seems they shop at the same clothing store ... and go to the same hairdresser.

    OK I've got it now.

Didn't make sense when I first read it as: "The low E appears to be like a cm (C minor) over the fretboard!"
    Easily confused :eek:o_Oo_O

You would need vice-grip hands to play that guitar.

I think Keith Richards stole this idea, but removed the low E instead of using it as a thumb rest.

    Hi.

That's what I thought for a monument too. Also, for a moment.*

I wonder if shows like this had sets of matching instrument 'props' for bands that wanted to use them? If so, they wouldn't really need to be playable.

Makes sense: matching haircuts in the salon; matching suits previously used on "Lost in Space" in the wardrobe; grabbed matching Tele's from the prop room. It's showtime!!

Um, I don't think we are hearing what we're seeing. Props for sure. And if that guy had to play guitar that hi, I wouldn't want to shake his hand. Maybe his tech was blind or....wait, did those bands have techs? Before my time. Btw I did go to a milli vanilli a concert once. Only because my hot girlfriend wanted to. Seriously. Why else! Anyway... It's kinda like that. I don't know where I'm going here. Props. Keep on pickin!!! For Real!

I'm not sure. I think there is a backing track (base and rhythm guitars not plugged in), but the lead guitar is plugged in and the playing seems consistent with the audio.

I can’t remember the fellows name was a jazz player (I’ll have to see if I can find a picture) and his action must have seriously been over an inch

Edit: found it, his name was Freddie Green

Check this out! For action finger bleeding nightmares! , I play 12-52 with a wound G and this guitar even scares me

And is it me or is the nut shimmed up?
