Cheaper than the sort of industry standard HX stomp, which just went on sale for $599 down from $699 and maybe due to the newer/ bigger model coming out.
To some degree these rigs seem to be on par with each other based on the computer tech they operate in.
But then build quality, durability, user interface etc.
Hope it is great!
What’s the new Helix device coming out? I haven’t heard of it and have been pondering a stomp, but I’m in no rush.

Don't hold your breath waiting. The Helix and a lot of its cousins are platform products where all of the magic is in software. There's no need for a new box except to add more processing power or bump the ADCs/DACs to have more bits or higher sample rates. The more-expensive products have some headroom in that department, so the cost of entry is high but you get to keep it for a long time through a lot of software updates.

I got mine a week ago and I've been playing with it all week. Had a band practice on Thursday night and I played it into the PA. It was really great. I'm really stuck on the Vox model called AC crunch. There's a lot of good sounds in this box but honestly I only need one really good one. The challenge is finding which one of these is going to be my one really good one. There's so many of them.

I've now started running the output of the tonex into the FX return on my Fender GTX 100. That sounds amazingly good too. Since the GTX has an XLR out I will use that into the PA and use the cab as a monitor. Great days.

right, but what else would they say?

Anybody who's studied business has probably heard of the Osborne effect, which is where sames of a company's current product drops to zero after they announce a new product that isn't ready for release yet. Nobody with any sanity does that anymore.

The last firmware release (December) for the entire HX family included a major overhaul of the cabinet and IR system that cuts way back on the amount of DSP they use. Those aren't the actions of a company that's getting ready to retire a platform. The are the actions of a company preparing it to do more so they can sell more of them.

a few things:

1) launching a new product doesn't mean retiring an old one; for example, the iPhone X still receives OS updates and that market moves much faster than multieffects for guitars
2) your example applies to how one company operates; it's not like Boss' relative lack of firmware updates means that it's not trying to "sell more of them."

I bought this pack and they sound good, but required quite a bit of tweaking to make them sound as good as the YouTube demo.

This is still new to me, but I’m not sure if it’s my studio monitors or the captures that aren’t quite right for me.

All of the ToneX captures have too much bass for my taste, and sound a bit muffled. I can usually fix them with EQ tweaks.

I think I may need to get better monitors.

I do all my tone tweaking with Sony 7506s then I find I like how it sounds when I put it through a PA.

may i ask what your input trim set at? that seems to be the easiest fix. i usually have mine at -11, but will go even lower if i'm using P90s (sometimes) or humbuckers (rarely).

I've settled on -15 for humbuckers. -10 for single coils.

Again, my studio monitors are not great.

Overall I'm enjoying the sounds from clean to crunch. High gain, not so much.

I recently downloaded 3 amps from Amalgam; JTM50, Blonde Bassman, and Tone King Imperial. They all sound great, but again, not digging the high gain.

Just wanted to add, Amalgam’s Tone King Imperial profiles are the best I’ve heard so far for clean and edge of breakup. Never played the actual amp, but the profiles are fantastic. Really sound and feel like a great tube amp.
