One of my favorite holiday traditions is following the World Junior hockey tournament, always starting on boxing day.

Love to follow our Canadian boy's playing at the highest Jr. level. You easily forget that these kids are mostly 17 to 19 years old. With the NHL season all but pooched, it gives me my hockey fix.

Tournament is in Russia this year, so live games are 4:00 am EST, (11 hrs time difference), with replays later in the day.

Boxing Day morning, Canada 9, Germany 3.

I just finished watching the Russia / USA game. Good game but I was hoping the US could pull it off. Close. 2-1 for Russia...

I watch every Jr game that is televised, and I set my alarm to watch them live. The next Canada game is against the USA on Sunday morning. That is going to be a "barn burner" as they say. They were saying that the US roster includes players from California, Texas, and Florida, with most of them coming from Ohio. Who would've ever thought that some of those States would ever be producing hockey players of this caliber. Definately good to see...

And Slovakia just beat Germany. Should be 2 good games tomorrow. USA vs Slovakia and Canada vs Russia. The loser of the US / Slovakia game is out of medal contention. The winner of the Canada / Russia game gets the by to the Semi's.

    Go Canada!

Just waiting for the puck to drop.

Canada vs Russia in 45 minutes.

It is great to see the future stars of the NHL.

Earlier this morning, USA 9, Slovakia 3, so USA advances to quarter finals vs Czech Republic.

    Just finished......Canada 4, Russia 1.

Canada gets bye into the semi-finals. Plays winner of USA vs Czech.

    Some excellent hockey on display.

I'm sitting here watching the rebroadcast of the Spengler Cup final.

I gotta say it is a little weird seeing Joe Thorton playing against Canada.

You're right. That's why I've always had a hard time getting in to the Spengler Cup. As a Canucks fan, I found it very hard to cheer for Canada while Cory Schneider was in net playing against them. Very weird to see all these Canadians playing against Canada. But still a good tournament.

Shayne Gostisbehere, maybe the US team's best player in the tournament, is from Margate, FL. Hard to believe. Drafted by the Flyers.

    Today's semi-final results:

    Russia 4, Swiss 3.....in a shootout!

Russia scored to tie with approx 1:30 left in the 3rd period. Overtime settled nothing. Russia wins in a shootout. Swiss gave them all they could handle and silenced the crowd for the most part.

    USA 7, Czech 0

    Total domination by the USA.

    Tomorrow's semi finals,

Swedan vs Russia, Canada vs USA

Setting my alarm for 4:00 am.

Damn. I hate like hell to order the NHL Network. I cancelled on news of the lockout. I'm going to miss this. Enjoy the games. Sounds like a great tournament again this year.

This is why people who think Columbus is a bad hockey market are dead wrong. It would help if the team wasn't horrible, but there's actually a good amount of hockey in Ohio.

Don't have cable, or much time to watch tv in general, but I'd be watching this if I could. Enjoy everyone!
