I've been on the lookout for a misplaced capo for 2 weeks now. Ordered a new one and it should arrive Monday. I expect my old faithful to turn up any minute now.
I think the reason capos come in black is so you will lose them, since black is harder to see. It's Corporate America's way of selling more capos.

I saw a white capo on TV a few months ago. I would think it would be harder to lose.

The item I lose the most, is picks. But no worries, I have a ton of the same picks in an office drawer; D'Addario Duralin 120mm's.

PSA:
My Wife bought me a man purse (murse) a few years ago. I thought, “Yeah right, what the heck am I going to use this for?”

Well, after about a year, I thought that maybe I could use it as an organizer!
Now I keep all of my essential items in it.
Wallet, car keys, sunglasses, reading glasses, harmonicas, and yes, guitar pics.
I keep it hanging on a hook in the kitchen, with the coats and jackets, close to the back door.

I trained myself to empty my pockets when I come home, and I put the items in the man purse.

It’s leather with three zippered compartments, and extra pockets inside. It’s made by Kenneth Cole, and my Wife says it’s actually a small computer bag.

It works for me!

Now THAT would make a great premise for a film: a guy finds a flashlight while walking his dog. He picks it up, aims it at the palm of his hand, and turns it on to see if it works. On his palm, he sees the following vague text, 'Flight 3840 LAX to DCA'. He blinks, and the message is gone. He chalks it up to being tired. That evening on the news is a report of a plane crash. It's flight 3840 from LAX to DCA. And that's when things get interestinger.
I'm just gonna sit over here on the couch and wait for the offers to come in!

I buy tools and things that I'm going to need and can't find them when I need them.
The inverse of this is that if I get rid of a tool I never use, I need it within the next couple of weeks for the first time in years, if ever.

Long time murse user here, although it’s now a leg bag (more practical for motorcycling). Very efficient. Now I lose everything all at once instead of one thing at a time.

This is timely. Just the day before yesterday I was doing a tv wall mount. I had all the parts and tools laid out nicely in a rare moment of organization for me.

There were three lag bolts involved. At one point I look over and there’s only two laying out. I looked everywhere in the room and couldn’t find the third one. I looked everywhere again. I was about to head out to buy a replacement when my wife came home.

I asked her to look, a fresh set of eyes and all that. She looked all over the room with no luck. Then she went in the kitchen for something and I hear her say “I found it”. It was on the counter beside my water cup.

Apparently I went for a drink with the bolt in my hand and put it down, then forgot to pick it back up. Typical behavior for me.

I lost a folding knife a couple of years ago, then found it recently under a couch after I bought a replacement so the OP is on the mark.
Although when I look at my too many guitars I don't recall ever losing one.

It amazes me though when you do find said missing item it's ALWAYS in the last place you look.

Kinda like the guy who lost all his furniture and belongings but then, like a miracle, stuff exactly like what he used to own turned up on Craiglist.

He had just enough money leftover after buying everything on his shopping spree to purchase a replacement lock for the broken one on his front door that he'd been meaning to fix for months.

Sort of happened to my aunt and uncle on my Mother’s side long ago. Took a trip to Greece and got greased & fleeced to the tune of the whole house-down to the blankets and silverware. They can come in as moving companies or fumigators…
