Learned a new cover I mean.

I learned When I Write The Book by Nick Lowe this morning.

I wore that Rockpile record out when I was a teen.

I doubt it would work with our band but it keeps the mind sharp anyhow...

'Shut Up and Dance' by some goofy pop band whose name I can't remember.

That should give you a clue as to how good the song is.

I started working through "Yesterday" well... yesterday. I'm about halfway through it.

My cousin and I play a lo9t of Beatles songs together (he's on bass) and he's out of town for a bit, so I'm going to surprise him with this one when he gets back.

Windy and Warm done as a surf instrumental.

    Chet Atkins made it famous.

The Ventures May have twanged and ‘verbed it, but I am not sure

it's neat that this thread appeared now because i'm actually trying to learn a song all the way through with all parts: band on the run.

I've been playing over 45 years and I can't think of a single song I can play al the way through. but I play guitar All The Time. it's a mental disorder.

    but, by golly, this time...

I challenged myself to learn a song in an hour. After mulling over my favorite Tom Petty songs I chose Even the Losers.

    It took a half hour.

Tom plays it in D so I just capoed up two frets and used all the C chords.

    Sounds good for solo acoustic.

Gary Clark Jr's 'Things Are Changin.'

It's only two chords but my hands don't like the reach with those hammer-ons. It's a very rhythmic song, and that tapping is also harder than it looks. For me anyway.

I had to learn Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody".

Don't ask...the things we do for the people we love.

This song has been my main attention point the last couple weeks. I've got a lot of it down but I can't say I've "learned it". I have the intro & chords down and a bunch of the riffs but I don't improvise it all that coherently and I could probably practice this the rest of my life considering where the bar has been set by Mr. Burrell and SRV.

The other two that have been getting a lot of attention lately are:

    - Wild Horses by the Stones
    - Small Town by John Mellencamp

Mostly just playing chords on those, I have them down fine but again have only been playing a couple years, I need to keep working on making all the changes smooth, etc..

Vulfpeck Dean Town. This was a tough one. I had to record it into my DAW so I could slow it down and learn it a section at a time, then put it all together. Also, it's kind
of a strange, syncopated line, not intuitive, so it took some time to get it into my head so I could play it all the way through. Took me
probably at least eight hours of work to get this one down. It was actually a few weeks ago that I learned it but I'm still proud of myself. Waiting for my bass player
to learn the part as well so our band can do it. I will double the bass part on guitar...

If you could somehow come up with a mash-up of all four that would be epic. :D
