Absolutely; especially here in Florida. Rednecks. And I HATE rednecks! Although I own a pickup, I also drive a Hyundai. My pickup is an '04 GMC, with 13K original miles..it is to evacuate my equipment, Harley & animals in the event of a hurricane.

We all have our comfort zones-again, based on personal experience and perceptions. :)

Hey, I resent that. I was a jerk long before I had an expensive car!

I think you can continue to enjoy and respect science. I know a lot of scientists, and I’m familiar with what your interviewee referenced.

I’ve seen “studies” on plastic bags by the American Chemical Council, on fertilizer by Scott’s, on water pollution by paper mills. I could go on and on.

The way I hear it worded, if you see a study that runs contrary to most published work, check the funder.

The people I know are fair-minded to a fault. I would frequently be trying to pull a position out of them for my work, and it was all but impossible.

    Hehe yeah no.
I had a New York license for a decade and a Mass license for longer. I found NYC drivers generally much nicer than Mass though still aggressive. Cabbies are another story.

For the article in question, "expensive" means "more than the target audience can afford." The whole point of the article is division-"us" against "them." It's the current rage these days, and it's pretty stupid.

I'm skeptical of 87.6% of the studies I read, according to a study I conducted on studies.

I know plenty of people who drive expensive cars and are friendly, down the earth people. Except Cadillac Escalades. That one’s an a$$h*le mobile.

Hmmm...well, I guess if you are a scientist and you just aren't quite good enough to get into a research program to benefit mankind, then slapping together some thin "factoids" about "expensive" car owners is as good a way as any to make a living. Gives them something to do when not delivering pizza:lol:.

Edit: and I write this with respect and thanks to my pizza delivery person(s).
