All is not for the worst, however.

No no no you have it backwards!

The real jerks are those who can't be bothered to focus their lives and values on material wealth; having the audacity to get in the way of those who attain monetary greatness.
Jerks on foot need to understand that folks in big flashy cars have things to do, places to go, people to see.

Impeding the truly valuable members of society is the pinnacle of churlishness!

So, that would be all Audi, BMW and Mercedes drivers in the UK. I drive a VW, so I'm excluded!

I think it's more quantitative to stick to price. As it sez in the article, "the likelihood they'll slow down decreasing by 3% for every extra $1,000 that their vehicle is worth."

It was the Finnish study that used the word "status", and there they said German cars like BMW, Audi or Mercedes.

If the are measuring an non-quantifiable think like 'expensive', then I doubt they are scientists.

    Not that I would disagree.

This does align with most people's experience on the roads. So no real surprise really.

What I'd find interesting is if the underlying reasons could be proven. Entitlement and narcissism were cited, but that's a value-judgment.

When we see a BMW driver being a berk on the road, we all judge that they're arrogant and feel entitled. But what if a guy driving a total wreck does the same? Then we judge that they're antisocial or just an a-hole. Why does the choice of car alter our judgment? Why would the wreck-driver not feel entitled?

I just think the motives are more interesting here.:)

Agreed. Around here black pickups are the worst. The level of arrogant driving is truly mind boggling.

My wife and I have a running gag when we see a pickup truck driver do something particularly arrogant and bone headed:

Ms. darkwaters: "Did you see what that guy just did !?!?"

Me: "O honey, you have to remember, he's in a truck."

When I'm travelling to a gig the gear inside my car is worth considerably more than the car itself.
