If you could only have one, why not 2??

If you have your "pride and joy", your "one and only" dirt pedal, why not have 2 of the same??? My pedal of choice for dirt is a BD2, I've recently thought about getting rid of my RAT and pairing my BD2 with another BD2. I love my BD2 as a boost, at slight break up, and at higher gain, why not run another with it? Anyone else do this, or thought about this??

Hmmmm...interesting. That said, I have a Soul Food and a Fender Santa Ana Overdrive...but use them on different guitars.

...because you already have one? I'm firmly in the "one dirt pedal per board + Fuzz if desired" camp though, so maybe I don't fit in The Stomp Box threads.

Ironic, I had two Rats and a TS-9 in the 90’s. Worked great! One Rat set for high gain. One set for low gain slight crunch. Used the TS to goose the crunch Rat for a second lead tone. Made for many varieties of dirt.

I'm a fan of the SD-2's low gain channel both at the low and high gain settings. Ive been looking for another one but primarily to make some modifications to one of them and not mess with the stock one I already have.

In the meantime I use the SD-2 with an OD-3, they are similar in some ways. Have you thought about pairing the BD-2 with an OD-3? They are similar as well from what I understand.

I could see me doing that but I tend to like different "flavors" for combos. I have a Bad Monkey (TS variant) set for nice classic rock rhythm sound into a TCE MojoMojo (set at ALMOST clean boost) into a Digitech Hardwire SC-2 (set at nice Marshall just a tad more than AC/DC) into an MXR Super Badass Distortion (set on stupid gain) with a boost in the effects loop.

You want gain options? I'm your huckleberry.

Used to proudly rock two tube screamers. Worked well.

The Doors Robby Krieger used series Fuzz Boxes back in the day.
I ve done it w 2 "Tube Screamer" clones, but the filtering made it sound too honky. I ve also tried other 2 box combos from my limited collection, but no usefull combos. Obviously from other posted good results, YMMV a lot depending on whats thru what.

This logic seems to work well on pedals, not so much on girlfriends for some reason...

Definitely thought about it, but with 2 Klon style pedals. First as a boost and second a bit dirtier.

Those look like Expandoras! I bet that sounded, interesting. Cool display for that gimmick. Billy G. likes some fuzz sometimes...

I have a bd2 and a bd2 waza. Different boards though. But why not hook them up and see what they can do together?

I’ve found that lower-gain pedals stack better than higher-gain. And some don’t stack well period.

For instance, stacking two old Vox Valvetone V810 overdrive pedals worked great.

    Fulldrives didn’t.

Blackstone Appliances are two-channel and there is not much benefit I notice stacking them. One of them in higher gain mode sounds nearly the same as both stacked in that mode.

Two OCDs. One set light, one set heavy. Gives me three degrees of dirt. (one, the other or both)
I like two OCDs because they don't color the tone.

If the overdrive you use adds a lot of mids, then when using two, you would have a problem with more mids on top of mids.
    No problem with stacking OCDs.
