If I could have anything in the whole wide world, as long as it’s available new right now?

Has to get clean and drive sounds with no pedals? But also take pedals well?

    Marshall 2555X head.
    Marshall 1936 2X12 cab.

I saw the Black Lillies live a few years ago and the lead guitarist was playing a 335 into a Matchless combo (not sure what) and it sounded just glorious. Every time he played a riff or solo I was craning my neck to see what amp he was using. Took me a while to figure it out. I don’t know anything about Matchless (and they are likely out of my price range) but that show and that sound left a mark in my mind.

I want a Hiwatt 100W head and 4-12 cabinet with Fanes.
They're incredibly well made and have a beautiful, clean, almost Hi-Fi tone.

    Hey Bill hola..

That does look like a sweet rig, but are you sure you want to haul a 4x12 cabinet around to gigs most nights? Or is this something so nice its worth lugging it around and its doable for one man.

Hope our paths can cross again soon.... cheers!

    Hi Alan, cool thread!
I would use the head, but probably with a 2-12 cab.
The entire rig, with the 4-12 would be fun to have at home.
I would love to use the head for bass, too.

    Very nice!

Speaking of Bass Amp Heads, which ones do ya'll like the best these days? There are a ton of good bass cabinets to choose from in different speaker configurations now. Seems to be a golden age for all the bass rig options.

I didn't even think about using a guitar amp head for a Bass rig but I guess it worked for Lemmy.

I'm kinda surprised Fender doesn't have a definitive amp head out there in their lineup these days, that alot of people would go to.

I'd like to have a Mark bass rig, but my simple GK rig, and old Traynor Block 80 are all I need.
The Mark stuff is feather light and extremely powerful.

Back "in the day" several local rock bass players used Hiwatt 100W guitar heads for bass.
They have a ton of headroom for a 100W tube amp.
I know 100W is not a lot of power for a bass amp.
Kyle Brock, with Eric Johnson used Hiwatt amps often.
Anyways, I would love a 100W British tube head.
Hiwatt, Orange or Marshall are in the running.

The chassies of my two Princetons crammed into a single rack housing a la Rick Nielson, and a 4x10 cab wired up with two separate 8 ohm inputs.
