Scorsese wanted to do at least one film he could watch with his grandkids.

Stellar cinematography and performances.

Sacha Baron Cohen really shows his depth of range and is great on screen.

Oh man, that movie drips so strongly with the feeling that "things can only go horribly wrong for these people" from almost the first frame that I couldn't stand how uneasy it made me feel for more than 20 minutes or so.
Yeah, all the characters are messed up, and the director did a great job of conveying that, with the assistance of the director of photography, I guess (I always wonder how that breaks down in the best films). Small details like Bridget Fonda's character convincing her husband to lean into the wrongdoing. Her bangs (haircut) make her look even more cynical and scheming. And Brent Briscoe's character making fun of Bill Paxton's character for being a "college boy." The actors did a great job there, because the taunts, body language and gestures seem absolutely real. And during the scene where they try to record Brent Briscoe's character in order to blackmail him, we know things are going to go horribly wrong, and it's like watching storm clouds gather. Bleak portrayal of human nature, for sure, but damn that's some fine cinematic art!

Feel free to post a great flick and make sure to post where it's streaming. No spoilers, please. A short plot synapses is fine.

My selection is called Waking Ned Divine and it's streaming for free on YouTube. It's about a small village in Ireland and they wake on day to find that one of their own has won the big lottery.

Have any good ones?

We seldom get to see it, but it's one of the best put-together films, ever. It's not comedy, it's humor, well-written, and delivered by people who inhabit the roles and don't come across like they're acting. Excellent stuff.

This past Sunday I watched a fantastic film noir on TCM, so it can be streamed on Max.

The film is Rififi. It’s French. 1955. One of the best, if not the best, heist films ever made.

We watched some of it and saw that it had real potential as noir. Recorded for another time.

American History X with Ed Norton… an incredible film about racism that you will never forget, ever.
Great film, not for the faint of heart (GRAPHIC.)

Ed Norton is so good in this it explains why he was such a popular pick in hollywood for a few years til they actually had to work with him.

Reminds me of another great film with him that is just not given enough credit.

Turn off the lights, turn up the sound and just embrace.
Cinematography and soundtrack are marvelous

"Hundreds of Beavers" from last year.
This one's a little different...it's a silent movie/live action cartoon and incredibly entertaining and unique.

yes it's great, I went to see it at the cinema! the sound was very well done which is very rare thesedays, not too loud, perfect volume.
I saw it first in Imax in Dallas, and the sound was thunderous. I was thisclose to putting in the pair of Eargasm ear plugs I take to rock concerts. A saw it a few weeks later at a Fort Worth theater when it began to play in conventional movie theaters, and it was so quiet, if I would have asked an employee to crank the volume. (Now that it's streaming, you can play it at any volume.)
