If they can make plant-based meat, why can’t I buy a Steak Tree?

    And other deep thoughts....

Seriously, if that’s not possible I’d settle for a corn plant that yielded tamales, or a chile plant that would hang with fresh-fried rellenos.

I'd plant a whole grove of those!
Trees I got only produce leaves and pine cones.

I had an ex that could turn a fine fillet steak into something closer to tree bark.

Lab grown is right around the corner. As a plant-based person, I will not grieve if that obliterates the fake meat market!

And - that meatberry is something even in my carnivore days would have grossed me out the door haha!

Most disturbing. Some things you can’t unsee. If that features in a dream, I’ll send Freud round.

Does it currently take more energy to make a plant burger than a real burger? I mean, all those lab lights, machines, freezers and sterilisation units must use a lot of electricity.

Whereas a cow just eats grass which is real and grown by nature and plentiful in the countryside where the cows live.

Or is the real problem cow flatulence?

Now let’s make them grow nestled in spruce! You may be our best hope to achieve this internally here at TDPRI:eek:

Well, now that you mention it, we do have at the foot of the englemann spruce trees here, morel mushrooms that have a flavor and texture of steak. I use them in pasta sauce instead of meatballs, so there is that.

I find it's important to point out that all of the finest tone woods have always been plant based.

I suspect a steak from a steak tree would taste as good as “plant-based meat.” Seriously, I’m a vegetarian, and I hate these new things. When I gave up eating meat almost 30 years ago, veggie meat was horrible. Eventually, they figured out not to try faking meat, and it got better. Now, they’re back to square one.
