SG or LP with P90s
The only other electric guitar I own, my '67 Epiphone Casino that I've had since I was 14 years old.
Anything but a Gibson, unless it has P90s ...
No Telecaster ? ... Give me a Stratocaster please .
If Fender wasn't around to copy what would you make?
perhaps that's a question for all the companies making F shaped guitars...
I use a Gibson Nighthawk when anything fender tele or strat is required. If i must use Fender..Duo Sonic gets the nod
Jazzmaster and Duo/Sparkle Jet with Dynas.
Crook T, Ron Kirn T, Danocaster...
I love everything so I’d be alright.
BUT - they’d be an emptiness in me that I wouldn’t be able to explain.
Gretsch Jet , Gibson ES 335, Rickenbacker 360
I’d look for a PRS with a modern coil tap. I like the “split” tones, especially where the bridge and neck pickups can be tapped independently. The tap gives you a full coil with just a bit of the opposing coil. The tones from tapped and untapped pickups together works for me.
Those two are not switches, but levers that raise the two string dampers between bridge and bridge pickup:
If there were no Telecaster, would there have been a Strat?
Would Gibson have moved into solid bodies without being forced?
Our options might‘ve been limited to hollow bodies and acoustics.
Well I play a hollowbody 1/2 the time already, so that...and a modded strat, maybe I guess. Or a Jmaster, which I have little experience of. Or an LP Jr. There are lots of good guitars.
I would survive it.
Probably some Ibanez Artist series guitar. Never played or owned one, but I like the looks, structure and price range fits for me.
I'd be fine with ...
later 60's SG w/ P90's
Strat or Jazzmaster
and would just keep on playing my Rev Slingshot.
but, a world without Teles?! I hope the OP has woken up from his nightmare!
