So what's the deal Fender history buffs? If the pickguards initialed JC from the Dan Smith-John Page Fullerton early 80s era are not John Cruz's who's are they?
The more I search around on the internet the more I find on both sides of the fence.
Folks insisting their Dan Smitth strat has John Cruz initials or that they are definitely not becuase of the year.
    John do you know hehe?
I see folks out there insisting their 82,83 strats, bullets etc. have John Cruz initials, but in my research it seems John didn't start at fender til 86.
    JC?

There was a pretty famous carpenter with those initials; these could be really special guitars.

This was the very first thing that went through my mind too, Jupiter.
I mean it isn't totally out of line to think that guitars were part of the shop
    produce. He does love music.
I would think they would be worth a lot though.

I believe the letters refer to the model and not the builder. I had an Eric Johnson Strat that had EJ on the inside of the pickguard. Could be a V not a C. Or you could have the rare John Coltrane model.
