Here's a traditional number I wrote called "If Her Memory Serves Me Right".

I'm pretty sure I cut it with my MIM into a J-Station set to the Blackface Model.

    Thanks for listening

    Sounds really good!

At first I thought the title might be a play on the This Wheel's On Fire lyric, but nope.

Hey, I just call it how I see it. What are you using to record?

Drums and Bass are done through Band-in-a-Box.

I then record the Acc. Rhthym Guitar, which is my Martin recorded through a MXL Condensor, and simultaneously through the guitars internal pickup as well.

My MIM tele is into a J Station, although now I have a Pocket POD, which is much better IMHO.

Everything is done into Cubase on my laptop.

Nice. Well, it's really clean sounding and the mix is good.

I need to get myself a condenser mic.

My MXL was under $100, so they're not the expensive.

I want to get a better preamp, because there's still a lot of noise there.

There's always one more thing to get in search of a better sound!

I've also got to figure out how to get louder mixes. When I put it on my ipod and listen in my car, it's about 1/2 the volume of the stuff on the radio. It's annoying having to turn everything way up.

I am almost surprised to look around and see that there's no jukebox and I'm not sitting on a bar stool when I finish listening to that song. Great songwriting, man!

You should be able to track down a limiting or finalizing plug-in for Cubase. It's kinda tricky to get it good and loud without destroying all the dynamics, but used judiciously you can still boost your mix to a level that suits you better. I've had better luck using them on a bounced mix then on the master channel when all the tracks are running.

That's the best compliment I could get! It must be the result of the six pack of Lone Star I downed while cutting it.:D

I'll have to look into it. I need about 8 more songs before I have an album worth of material, so at that point I think I'll look into one of those mastering suite software packages, and learn how to do it.

Then hopefully I can go back and clean some stuff up and have a respectable end product!

Good one..good as about anything I've heard on the radio lately. Kind of reminds me of Zack Brown a little but more country. WIsh I could play like you do...voice ain't bad either.
