    there is a difference

    she wrote 1 book that was a hit.
    the definition of 1 hit wonder.

    they had some minor hits in Canada
    but, nobody regards Canada in any way
    so that doesnt count.

    Both are great, neither are silly or whimsical. Art is far more valuable than you, a songwriter, seem to think.

    You sir are correct.

    You usually see the term 'one hit wonder' referring to a musical group, and a pop one at that because it has to do with commercial success. I just thought it interesting to call an author of a serious novel a term that is generally reserved for musical kitsch.

    That being said, I'm sure there are many examples of one hit wonder songs that had critical success as well.
