I'm a painter by trade that specialises in lacquer and stain work on custom log homes.

I did the painting on a new fifties style diner and they let me do some creative work on their diner.

The coolest thing I got to do was refinish an old Coke cooler in nitro.

Was that originally like an ice chest, and later converted to a fridge unit?

Looks awesome! Love old coke stuff.

    Very nice job!

I can remember getting sodas out of one of these at the neighborhood grocery as a kid. Didn't look as good as this one though.

I'm sure it does but they wanted it done so might as well be me that gets the job :).

It was in good shape mechanically but it was in rough cosmetic shape.

I must admit it hurt taking the orbital sander to it but in the end its just the same. Only like it was when new.

Guess I should show the after shot of the back.[IMG]

Here's some of the other things they had me do. They wanted the appliances to have some retro flair.

    Thanks guys!

I enjoyed doing it but don't tell my customers. They may not pay as much next time lol.

I love doing custom finishes. I tried to talk em into letting me do a sparkle finish on something but they wouldn't go for it.

Good thing you use lacquer. I like my cokes to breathe.

I just blew Coke out of my nose when I read that!!!!! :D

The only reason I did use lacquer is because I wanted to keep it as close to original as possible.

    That's funny though :)
