Ever since I went electric in 2007, I've been a Fender Guy. When I went shopping for my first, I didn't consider anything, but a Fender. Came home with a Strat because it seemed to be a guitar that could do a lot. A couple of years later, I became a Tele Guy and recently added a Jazzmaster, which a simply love.

I have no interest in owning a Les Paul or SG. Something about the neck radius that just didn't gel with me. PRS, well I just find them ugly and can't see myself owning one regardless of how good they might be.

So, what iconic guitars will never be in your collection?

Most of them. I like teles and 335s and jazz boxes. I have an appreciation for jazzmasters and firebirds. I think there’s some cool stuff going on with danos and supros. SG’s are underrated guitars, extremely useful, but not mind blowing. LP’s, Gibson “futuristic” and strats I have no interest. Don’t particularly care for non Gibson archtops not in the NY style.

Almost the same here. I would say anything other than a Tele, a 335 (style), or a 330 (style) doesn't really interest me. If my Epi Sorrento had a decent neck width (it was less than 1-5/8) I would have had the perfect mate for my Tele. No interest in PRS, either.

I thought I could do without a Strat until my local shop got a Fender Startocaster 60's Classic Series in
So it seems I can do without all guitars except a Strat.

I’ve owned well over a hundred strats. I’m over them. Don’t know that I ever need another one. My favorites are Les Pauls and Teles.

I could definitely see an SG in my future. I’ve had several and always got along really well with them.

I could definitely see a Ric in my future. Cause, Ric. I’ve always wanted a 620.

I will definitely have at least one PRS. I’ve had a couple, and never should have let them go. Huge mistake.

I probably will never own another dreadnought. I’m all about 000 and GA acoustics now. If I found an exact replacement for my long lost Yairi I’d buy *that* dread, for sentimental reasons. But that’s it.

I guess I could do a strat if it wasn’t a Fender. A super strat like a nice Blade or Charvel I could definitely get behind.

I have almost one of everything but V shaped guitars and anything with a Floyd Rose. Hate the Floyd and just can’t play the V.

Les Pauls very much. Find them very non-ergonomic.

Wanted to love 345s and likes, but could not bond with them. Maybe later when i get older. :)

I have a few…but I could easily do without SGs. Same with Jazz Basses (though I have more of them). I don’t need Les Paul carved tops either, as long as I can keep my LP flat tops.

What makes a guitar iconic and why should whatever that is make me want one? Or not want one. None of my guitars were chosen because someone famous played them. None have any particular historical value. None are collectible. Electric or acoustic, they were all purchased to meet a need within a budget. The most expensive of them is unique, but hardly iconic. I have enough of them to cover all bases and both goals. So since I have all I need, I guess I can do without anything else, iconic or otherwise.

Dunno… I'm happy with what I have but can't deny that I am at least curious about all the other classic models. If PRS belongs to "classic", then that's one I'm not interested in. As for the others, I can live without them, but would like to have one around of each. In decreasing order of interest:

- ES-335… I like single coils best, but if I had to pick a humbucker guitar this would likely be it. Or
- Les Paul… unwieldy, but there's something undeniable there (although, a goldtop with P90s…)
- Jazzmaster… never tried an offset but if I had to go for one it'd be this one
- SG… I like it from outside, but dislike the far-out neck and nose-dive
- Jaguar… no pull to those ones at all
- As said: PRS

I am of course not counting the guitars I don't have, and have a soft spot for (50s strat, Pre-war Epiphone Deluxe or Triumph archtop, ES-150, Gretsch, maybe an Epi Riviera with minis).

Gibson Firebird. It's a Gibson trying to be a Fender. Yuck.

Gibson Corvus. Just...because.

Fender Starcaster, which was a Fender trying to be a Gibson.

Vox Teardrop and Vox Phantom. Both are pretty craptacular as guitars go.

Can get my head around a Dano or a Parker Fly.

Never met a Gibson that I actually loved, but some were pretty close - I would never say never.

I’ve played a few superb Ibanez guitars, but not the shredder models - I can’t deal with the flat back neck profile. For shredding I turn to a Strat, Jackson or Charvel.

Same with Yamaha - I’ve played and owned some real gems, but could never get along at all with their Pacifica series.

Mostly a Fender Guy, but open to being open ;)
