The "Emerald Isle".
Erin was the goddess who allowed the Tuatha De Dannan to settle in Ireland.
Or so the story goes.....
Direct any serious enquiries about Iceland to me. I have many Icelanders in my extended family and I've been numerous times.
I don't know that I've ever thought about it...but having seen globes before, it's what I would have guessed if pop quizzed.
Then you would be further surprised to learn that there is evidence that they got to what is now technically North America...but did not ever settle. As far as their westward exploration and expansion, they basically island hopped through the British Isles, and from there, into the very North Atlantic. What is now Great Britain, to Ireland, to Iceland, to Greenland.
Ireland or Iceland?
And I’m thinking Ok, so maybe they have a Westminster Abbey, a Saint Paul’s cathedral and maybe a Selfridges in Iceland now. And fish. A LOT of fish.
Less ignorant. More knowledge doesn't make you smarter. You're either smart, or not.
I did 2 Navy deployments to Iceland as a P-3C sensor operator. That is how I learned audio on an industrial scale. Iceland is a wonderful place populated by wonderful people. I have been known to use the Icelandic version of my name as a stage name, as well.
I heard there's a large percentage of single woman in Iceland. Of course I researched it right away, only to find they prefer drummers and bass players. . . . .
Thanks for clearing that up.
Wasn't Iceland one of the few places on earth that were debt free?
I think I remember hearing years ago that they had paid off their national debt.
Coincidentally I hear it's quite hard to migrate there which would keep the population numbers on the lower side making it a nicer place to live than if it became congested and over developed.
i watch a video yesterday of a icelandic woman telling how the usa movies about thor and its characters names were pronounced incorrectly...then that led to another video of icelandic word pronunciation...thats a tough language
i think they removed all the corrupt bankers or something too
I knew a woman who's parents were both from Iceland. She had the same pale blue eyes as a Husky.
I remember a blond girl that was a sales rep used to come in to my work when I was around 18yo. She had greenish blue cats eyes and she was stunning. I had never seen that before or since. This was before freaky contact lenses were a thing.
I don't think she was from Iceland though but who knows.
I knew a guy who did a "girls vacation" years back.....Thailand I think. Those are rightly frowned on now...what with the human trafficking awareness and all.
