    Hi folks!
For long time I needed a LP, but here in Europe they're so expensive but in my prefered guitar shop I've found this old beauty: it sounds very vintage and it's very resonant. From what I read this thing has been made in Japan between 1970 and 1974, before Gibson lawsuit. Hope you like it

This brings back some memories. When I first started playing guitar at 13, I had saved up money from mowing lawns. I bought an Ibanez LP and a Heath Kit amp from my Uncle. I’m getting old.

Hang on to that guitar no matter what. That’s a real keeper.
    Nice catch!

I remember rose in their catalog. I couldn't make up my mind between that and their Flying V, ended up getting neither.

It might be resonant because on many of those Japanese guitars just the top was arched and it had some hollow chambers. I think you can tell if you remove the pickups.

Does it have a bolt-on neck or glued?

You can tell if it's chambered by prying the maple cap off the top. Score around the binding with an exacto knife to break the seal, then run a flat object like a flat-blade driver around the edge. The top can be lifted off, and any chambering will be visible.

    DON'T DO THIS.... IT'S A JOKE!!!

Yes, it's not a solid top, most likely bent birch. That is indeed an early 70's model, you can tell by the rounded neck heel, the later ones were square. The pickups should be Maxon super 70's. They are the predecessor to the Ibanez super 70. Cool guitar, looks to be in great condition.

In 1975 I bought a CSL Les Paul, which when I bought it I was told Ibanez built for CSL (It turns out that the Fujigen factory built both). At that time it was the only Les Paul copy available in sunburst. I was so pleased with myeslf. It played very nicely and sounded pretty good, but was the heaviest guitar I have ever owned. I sold it about tweny years later to a friend. I played it again last year, it still plays nicely but has not last any weight.

Anyway, these days I would much rather a black Les Paul, do enjoy yours.

When I was reading your post I thought damn, don’t pry the maple cap off, you’ll destroy the whole guitar!
Glad it was just a joke, you got me on that one.

    Very lucky find.

Bought this last year. Ibanez LP Custom 2350 1977.

Original Super 70 pickups had been replaced with SD JB/59 set, but still has the small 'Super 70s' sticker on the back of the headstock, which is cute.

I took off the Bigsby along with most of the gold hardware and had it replaced with chrome parts to add a bit of life to it.

The good/bad opinions on these guitars are pretty even across the internet, probably the biggest complaints are bolt-ons aren't as good and the pickups can turn microphonic.

Not a problem if you don't have the ORIGINALS :)
