' You beat me to it! After all, rhyming just to see how many times you can rhyme in one song (even if it doesn't make sense) isn't clever, it's irritatingly pathetic. Unfortunately the redundant, overly simplistic, heavily synthesized bass, sequenced drum machined and mostly droning background "music" isn't much better than the rapping, so perhaps it should just all go away. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a prude and have seriously tried and tried to find real value in Rap (I manage to hear it a lot more than I'd like due to working with a couple of rap aficionados). To be fair, I can truthfully state that I like the way some rap is used in certain songs (to be clear, this style was used in rockabilly and other musical genres long before so-call "rap" came along), but as a whole I feel the vast majority of it now is either; Covering the same topic, using vulgar or racist slurs for no profound purpose or is just pure narcissistic crap... imho of course. But, to be completely honest, while I must admit that it does take some impressive "vocal skill" to pull off a good rap, I especially can't stand the fact that a large portion of rap's so-called background "music" seems to be done by mostly untalented, bling-ladened hacks. At least Rockabilly has real musicians playing real instruments... '
