Looking back I realise that there were many things that, if I'd known, I would have hung on to.

I had an old S Type Jaguar that I sold just before they became collectible. I could get more now for the bonnet mascot than I got for the whole car.

Old MGBs that I scrapped when they got rusty, which of course they did.

A Twin Reverb that was great but ended up being used more as a coffee table.

It's quite a list and would have been putting it all away in a dry barn for storage.

    Over to you.

No ragerts! Maybe the only thing I'd reconsider is selling a Gibson Firebrand "The Paul" DeLuxe. I got it for next to nothing. It was the hideous orange colour. I see them from time to time on reverb and ebay, but always stripped and refinished as bare wood.

84’ Strat I sold off as a kid way too cheap. A Peavey 4x12 Sheffield cab. An early 90’s Charvel So-Cal - great guitar I played the crap out of. I sold it because it needed fret work!

I have some great gear that I’m glad I never parted with, as well, including a very early Bandit (second model) and an 80’s Peavey Foundation MIA bass that is still fantastic.

I don’t think I got rid of anything else I regret since the 90s

I walked into a neighborhood guitar shop back in 1990 and bought a first year Telecaster Thinline (1969) with a Bigsby for about 1K. I just couldn't bond with it so I took it back and traded it. Wish I had kept it.

The neck was good, but the frets were worn.

I don't think about the things I shouldn't have sold. It hurts too much.

A stack of Boss pedals and a Peavey Bandit I sold around '92 because I was broke.

But then I wouldn't have been able to pay the rent . . .

I miss my 1963 Epi Texan, 1955 Esquire, 1955 gold top, and 1968 gold top(s).
I had about six 1968/69 gold tops.
Not bad for 53 years of guitar wrangling.
The stuff I have now is even better, but I wrote a lot of songs on the Texan, the Esquire (a good, light refin with an added neck pickup, perfect big neck and THE Tele tone), and the gold tops all had big necks.
    Doh!

My first Telecaster. It was a 68 with a rosewood fretboard and it had been re-finished by a PO. A kind of ugly looking walnut colored stain. But it played great. Would love to have it back.

Either of the '80 Les Pauls I had 5-6 years ago. Bought them both to flip and made good money on each but still.....

These two. The Gibson SG Classic had been snapped in half and professionally repaired before I had it. I sold it back to the original owner so still hopeful I can get it back one day! There was something about it that I've never had with subsequent SGs.

The American Series Stratocaster I sold because I already had an Olympic White American Standard with maple board. This Hot Rod Red one was the better guitar (Fender really upped their game with the introduction of the American Series in my opinion) but I'd had the white one longer and it was my first USA made guitar and was a long time saving for it working at a local shop for very little money at the age of 15. I still have the white one though!

The 1969 Tele with a factory Bigsby that my mother bought for me in 1972, and that I sold for $100 and a bag of weed before leaving Jersey and heading out west after High School in the fall of 1974....oh oops.

77 Guild maple jumbo 12 with gold hardware and abalone slabs. Traded it for a cheap LP clone and Peavey amp, because, the band.

I've bought and sold a fair amount of guitars and amps, say, from '93-2004.

Some were items that were impulse, 'eye candy' that did not sound very good. And other items were great, but I needed to sell as I needed fast $$.

Items I REALLY wish I still owned, but such is life:

    1998 Fender JD Tele- ( red/white bind.)
    Epi Casino- Cherry
    1966 Ampeg Gemini II amp
1968 Deluxe Reverb - hated to sell, but got good $$ which we really needed

    * not gonna list stolen guitars, that's another thread!

Very grateful to have what I do have- all good gig stuff
