Beautiful. There are a couple of spots where there is a close shadow of the eagle visible...0:37 and 0:45. Then at about 0:50 we can see a shadow farther below. Great shadow at 2:20. Thanks!
Raptors are my favorite animal!
Well, except for when they are circling above and making my little Boston Terrier nervous...she only weighs 16 pounds. There are times when there will be thirty or more of them on a cruise looking for ‘smalls’. And this is in town here....,
They were supposed to almost be extinct when I was a kid (bald eagles that is)
The populations around here would disagree
On my 350 mile drive eastward yesterday, from Rapid City to Sioux Falls, I spotted three flying bald eagles during the trip, all in widely separate areas, and that's in rolling prairie, though I expect that there was water somewhere around the places I saw the birds.
This is the shorter two minute version of the Dubai eagle video. It's launched from the tower atop the Burj Khalifa building.
What's (also) amazing, is the point at 1:40 where the Eagle spots his handler standing in the red-outlined grassy spot far below, and immediately goes into an incredible dive for him, then lands on his outstretched arm.
John, that's incredible.
Yup. When I was a kid, seeing a bald eagle was something you talked about for a long time. When I left Winnipeg a bit over six years ago, there were two nesting pairs within walking distance of my house in the city, and in more rural areas, you saw them regularly. Here on the West Coast, I see them almost every day (by the dozen if I drive past the landfill...). And you know what? It makes me smile whenever I see one, because it reminds me that sometimes (not often) we get it right.
We have a few bald eagle nests around where I live. Truly majestic birds.
How did they mount the camera?
I'm sorry....it was just too easy. I love eagles....I'm on Vancouver Island so I see them often.
Nice. Amazing birds.
