I really dislike dragged out stories...so this ending was a good one....been fun 8 years.
I haven't read all the threads, but this is kinda funny. Almost 1.5M signatures.
Haha..oh what people finds to be important sometimes....what a waste of time.
how is it different than investing emotion in any other storytelling medium? are you seriously suggesting that no one should ever be moved by a story? that's a bleak life.
no, people are disappointed because the first few seasons were well written, and took their time to establish that actions had consequences, and spent the time for serious character work. the last few seasons, the last one especially, pissed all over years of character development for the sake of forcing the plot to move forwards, which is way more ham handed than this show was at its best.
the earlier shocking moments were all earned as a logical set of consequences for bad decisions. the shocking moments in the last season are just there to shock. it's an enormous drop in quality and it went from being like nothing else on television to being incredibly generic. the last episode feels like fan fiction wish fulfillment. it's like finding out all the main characters on some other show somehow all lived in the same college dorm.
also how did varys and tyrion get so stupid so fast?
that's an awfully weak attempt to shutdown discussion, doubly so on a board where by definition everyone who posts is involved in some sort of creative pursuit.
i'd be embarrassed if any of the creative projects i'm involved with came out as shoddy as this season of game of thrones, and i've worked in the film industry on top of being in bands and being a photographer and publishing zines and a bunch of other stuff i won't bring up because me flogging my resume is entirely outside of the point of this thread.
a whole lot of plot threads wound up being pointless. i'd have a hard time recommending it, which isn't what i would have said this time last year. we got shaggy dog joked.
so you had to follow up the vague misogyny on the show with explicit misogyny?
it was more of a nod of recognition of a post than anything to do with the show.
I am happy enough with the ending, even if there were fewer wow moments than I expect in the last show.
And I agree with others who say it leaves it open for more shows. What is West of Westeros?
I'm just guessing.. but... Elk City?
Sure, but before you get to Elk City, you pass through the tiny village (with the very vocal/angry town council) of Disappointment Hills...
C'mon! What's West of Westeros? WestWorld, of course! It is HBO, after all...
Talk about muddled story lines.
A classic - if it was 1 season...
Wouldn't THAT be something to see Arya wander into Westworld? lol
I watched it last night, it could have been worse
Right? The man in black would be a goner, LOL. And talk about having plenty of new faces to put on, well... this would be pretty much BYOF
the man in black is going to take us back to the weird movie where he dressed as a knight on a motorcycle.
