I want more Parmesan but I'm too embarrassed to ask.

As a former fine dining waiter, I would agree wholeheartedly with this. Especially if your request to the wait staff is going to cause the chef to get mad at them?

That is a guaranteed ticket to eating things you would gag just thinking about ingesting whether you were aware you did it not .

NEVER piss off waiting staff! NEVER!

As a teenager, I worked in an Italian restaurant. One of my duties was cutting pieces from a giant wheel of parmesan cheese, grating it, and filling up containers that were placed on each table.

Ha. About a million years ago I briefly had a gig as a waiter at this quasi-Italian place. Had a table of yuppies (yes, this was the 1980s) treating me like absolute garbage and openly demeaning me. The manager was useless and told me I had to take it.

The busboys, who were all some really nice Mexican kids, had been quietly watching the whole mess. They told the kitchen.

When it came time for dessert, I went to pick up the foursome's orders of cannoli. One of the busboys pulled me aside and told me that, before filling the cannoli shells, the kitchen staff had all spit into each and every one.

I brought the table their order and the lead yuppie told me that they weren't going to tip me for my service.

I told him that's fine, "because compensation comes in many forms."

There was guy on America's Got Talent some time ago and he sang a song and the only lyrics were "I want more Parmesan but I'm too embarrassed to ask.". Somehow he got through by singing this truth.

Have you ever been to a restaurant where you actually got the amount of Parmesan you envisioned? Even after asking for more twice?

I never have. If there was need for legislation, this is it. I here by support any of you future politicians if you will make this a cornerstone of your campaign.
