Us retired people use more firewood than we did when we were working. I'd better order another couple cords. Fall has definitely fell.

We've had minus temps in the morning for a week now. Window is cracked open at night but no heat on. I like a cold bedroom. We just add an extra blanket or two.

You are far from being alone.

I took my wool blankets to the dry cleaners at the end of last week to get winter ready while the temps were in the upper 70's. Last night, it got down to 36 overnight and I froze my ass off in bed beneath a sheet and light cotton blanket.

I didn't want to do it, but I kicked on the furnace at 3 am. It was either that or go back to bed in a sweater.

    Curiously it's going to be 30 C here tomorrow ( 96F ).
We have had a cold wet year. I'm predicting a long hot summer Downunder .

We succumbed to “heat on” a week ago. Much more pleasant in the mornings now.

Us too, the arthritis doesn't play well with the cold.

62 in the house this morning no thermostat. Much cooler and I’m flipping the switch…

Just about there in Chicago. It's been dipping into the 40s at night. We live in a fairly efficient house, so we can go a little longer.

At any rate, we should test the furnace. Last year, we flipped the switch and got nothing. Turns out there was a small piece of lint blocking an air tube. Had to pay for a service call, but the tech showed how to DIY if it happens again.

Not looking forward to higher costs. Both my wife and I are 100% WFH. We used to program the heat at 60 while we were at work, but now we have to keep it around 66/67 during the day.

I turned ours on a couple of days ago (daytime heat at 67F). It has only actually run a few times in early AM. Mrs is not as cold resistant as she once was.

This morning, I switched from my summer working-from-home attire, gym shorts, to my winter working-from-home attire, sweat pants. I guess I need to make sure I have some clean long sleeve shirts since I have to go into the office tomorrow.

I’ve turned it on a couple of mornings. This will be my first winter in a new house. I’m going from a gas fueled, hot air system to a 3 zone oil fired hot water system. Supposedly the hot water baseboard heat is less dry than an air system. Better for guitars. I’m not optimistic about the cost of home heating oil this year. While I relented and put on a sweatshirt this morning I am a creature who enjoys comfort so I will pay the cost to be comfortable.
