Feels really freeing. The minimalist in me is giddy.

This should cover all my bases. I really wanted to avoid a modeler with a bunch of digital menus and presets and patches to monkey with. This fits my work style.

No more lugging around amps for this guy!

I took your approach a few steps farther; this is what I drag around when I play out these days. No need for a plug-in power supply. The steel handles prevent stepping on the plugs and breaking 'em off in the jacks. The base is 1/4" thick Lexan. It's thin and lightweight and indestructible.

Note: the Fly Rig requires 12vDC, so if you're considering this route and you also have 9v pedals to run you'll need to take care of their power needs too.

I like your reasoning. Hours of tweaking is not what I want.

However, a friend of mine has done the same as you, and started using a Fly Rig.

And I had this conversation with another friend just yesterday at a gig, about messing with settings. He brought a POD Go. But I’m not ready to give up my tube amps and pedals yet though.

Heh heh. Wonder what they think simplify means? Looks like fun, though!

My iron rules of pedal selection:

1. One switch max.

2. Three knobs max.

3. True bypass.

4. No digital displays.

5. 1 Spot-friendly.

I should add a 6: Use it or sell it. But no matter how much dust settles, I keep thinking, someday. . . .

It’s simple compared to the 3 amps, 6 cabs, 2 microphones, stereo reverb, and stereo di it replaces. It’s actually really easy to dial in. A little more advanced than a SansAmp, but it does a lot more and sounds better, IMO.

The sansamp is 3 pedals in one. Super easy.
Nice!

I had a two-in-one pedal for a while. It was okay, but I didn't love it. An Analogman King of Tone. My favorite thing about it was that when I sold it, I got $100 more than I paid.

I do have a Sansamp Blonde, but I never use it. Looking at those dials make me carsick.

For me this is simple.... Most of the sounds that I could imagine needing in a pick up situation. Quick access, everything has a knob, no menu diving. It can go to the front of a combo, power amp input or straight to the desk. On occasion I just take the IR Loader, the Mooer preamp and the Timmy clone (MM), stick them to the front of the battery (above the pedals) and that is my absolute bare minimum.

Nah! I just use standalone pedals that I need, no more than 8, 6 would be better. Once set, you're done! You can always switch them out later.

Rocktron Banshee - POD Go - Rush Boost for me.
The boost is just to give leads a tad more volume. I could technically do that within the POD Go, but that one stand-alone button is easier to hit

I wonder, how being stupid/lazy/ignorant or whatever becomes a thing to be proud of for some people.
