I haven't played it for quite some time, probably a couple of years. It sounds pretty awesome and it's one of my favourite looking Telecaster variants after the original design. The quality of the Squiers can be quite high, my go to guitar has been VM Jazzmaster that's really surprisingly good for the price.

Anyway, I recorded some clean sounds and some overdriven too!

I've been playing my Cabronita partscaster a lot more lately.

Those are nice. I remember when all the retailers were blowing out Cabrinitas because they were being discontinued. You could get a new MIM model for less than $400 or 500. Now they’re selling for north of $700.
I cannot understand why Fender has not kept an MIM or USA made Cabronita in their product line

I had a surf green one and like a foolish idiot traded it in and have regretted doing so. I believe I got it at the closeout price of $500. It was a sweet guitar. The consolation is that I did get a super nice guitar that I could not have afforded without unloading a bunch of gear. Still miss that Cabronita though. I agree Fender should keep a Cabronita in their line. Super nice guitar with a unique sound.

I kick myself for not buying one while they were available from Thomann at close out pricing. I'd played one when trying out an amp or pedal and really liked it. Bought a Gretsch in the meantime and found I don't get on with the bulk of a semi-acoustic, so I'm selling it. I took out the set of TV Jones pickups I put in it, so I may yet end up with a Partscaster Cabronita yet, or maybe I'll score a used Squier one to fit the TV Jones to. :)

    Nice playing OP. :)

    Nice, glad you're enjoying it!

Count me in as a big fan, as well. These are awesome guitars.

My Shoreline Gold Cabronita Thinline body (MIM) got a vol pot bump to 880k and I'm totally thrilled with the tone from the Fideli'tron pickups! Neck is a Fender Rosewood neck (also MIM) from another body.

Got my black Squier one on closeout and on a scratch and dent--smushed in volume knob. Still searching for some kind of control plate to cover that up; maybe a different pickguard too. Good guitars.

Question: tone control..do any of you feel the Cabronita design would benefit from one? Always struck me as an odd omission.

Wow! Great playing man... Sure, the guitar sounds good, but I suspect most of "great sound" is still in the hands...

Grateful Ape, I like having tone control, especially if the guitar is bright, but most of the time I set the amp EQ the way I like it and leave tone control (on other guitars) alone.

    Thanks, Walden!
