Switch back and forth every six months for the best of both worlds.

I agree - just about everything looks good on a burst. I think I prefer the black actually, but they both look great.

Well.... to each his own but I will say that I personally like the white on your guitar rather than the black. With the tobacco burst, there's already enough dark color... the black guard is in conflict with that IMO. Nice gitfiddle though! ;)

I like the white guard better, but the picture is also brighter. Either way looks good.

I'd vote white - I like the contrast!

You might also try a 3-ply black guard. Sometimes that white outline makes all the difference.

I like both. Sometimes I like steak, sometimes chicken. Swap 'em out and mix things up on occasion.

Looks good both ways, i'd try a more satin black looking bakelite pickguard on there.

I definitely think the white looks better on that one.

Get a black and white cow hide guard from El Dorado. Problem solved.

I like the reddish tortoise guard. Oh wait!....that one's just in MY mind. ;)

See, I'm on the other side of the fence - I think the contrast of the white draws the eyes away from the burst too much.
That said, I think both look nice on it.

Kind of Yin/Yang sort of balance. You could also switch every time you do a string change.
+1 This is also a nice idea too.

I think the black one goes great with this particular burst better

I have virtually the same guitar (see left) and am about to make exactly that same switch. I LOVE the way the black guard looks with that burst. It matches the dark edges. The only thing holding me up is I'm going to install a 4-way switch and I'm trying to wrap my head around how to wire it... Keep the black!

You purchased the wrong black pickguard, try a Fender Bakelite they are satin finish not gloss and don't have that oversized bevel around the edges. Here...
