People use Fender strings?
DR Pure Blues on all the electrics, except when I want to get crazy and put a wound 3rd on something then its D'addario's.
And you can custom order the individual string gauges!
Of course there's a hefty upcharge for SS strings and they take six months to arrive.
Duh-ddarios 9.5 set on all mine, for years now. Ernie Ball super slinky had some kind of icky coating I didnt like, and a loong looong time ago I used Super Boomers on some poor old acoustic guitar and the hi phosphorous in those strings ate the frets alive. Or seemed to. Could have imagined that, but I stayed away from them ever since.
Years ago I was told that almost all the wire used in guitar string manufacturing came from a single plant in Mcminnville Tennessee
could be wrong about that too.... you know how it is...
Do we really know if Fender makes their own strings?
Just like...do we really know what's in Chicken McNuggets?
I experimented with lots of different strings in my youth… finally settled on daddario xl10's and I buy them by the 10 packs and ask for them in 10 packs as gifts from family who want to know what I want.
I switched to the coated strings for my acoustics a few years ago after using martin marquis for years and years….
Love the sound of new strings! Will get to enjoy that at tonight's hang with the fellers.
Ernie Ball Super Slinky only for me. .009 - .042 set.
Great for the OP. That moment of inspiration and discovery. I miss that. If I played a gig tonight I would embarress myself. Oh well, I have played all the engagements I want to play.
Yeah, but Tim, what do you think about the SIT strings.
And, i agree with the OP, that Fender strings have changed tonally...
