What was this beast. Single exhaust in the middle & I think it was electric.. It looked like a 200 mph autobahn vehicle.

I believe I’ve seen a Veryon in Scottsdale. A friend thought he saw a Chiron. Definitely NOT electric, either one. W-16 engines with 4 turbos….

Yeah, I was behind it. I rolled the window down to hear it whine; couldn't hear it. When it turned it had some Barrett Jackson banner on the side. Had a feelin it was a Bugatti. Looked bitchen from the back a deep magenta red.

You would think I could have heard it, if it was that.

I lust for a hyper-car that requires $20,000 oil and filter changes.

I would want to be wearing a seat belt if I were sitting in that thing tied on one of those sliding bed tow trucks.

Top Gear did a nice test of that car flat out. I think they hit 268. Maybe a little more... been a while. Tires don't last very long at that speed. (The real Top Gear, not that US based show that masquerades as entertainment).

IIRC it has a much muffled “around town” mode, and uncaps chunks of that for full performance. Given that it fires every 45 deg of engine rotation, it should have a pretty smooth sound….

I was going to buy one of those but I didn't like the color. But seriously, I don't think such expensive vehicles should be allowed on public roads unless the owners waive any claim to damages over, say $100K (or less!) in the case of an accident. I dread driving near really $$$ vehicles out of fear that some nimrod will slam on their brakes, drift into my lane, or somehow lead me into hitting somebody's mega-car.

Living here... driving around, my wife and I often say to each other "Welcome to the Scottsdale Auto Show".

When Mercedes, BMWs and Porsches are the most common vehicles around, those have all become pretty ordinary. Seems like almost everybody drives one of those.

Bentleys are not uncommon, but they're not quite so ubiquitous... they tend look somewhat special.

To really catch the eye around here, one drives a Rolls Royce, or a Bugatti. I still see a Rolls at least half the times I drive in town - they are such gorgeous beasts, those Rolls Royces! The premium sports cars we see around (Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini) seem kind of uninteresting to me for some reason. Not that impressed somehow.

^ A Bugatti test driver takes one to 431 kmh (267 mph)

^ More recently, one going to 490.5 kmh (304.77 mph).

i had left it in ‘urban mode’, which is quieter, when I sent it to the auction house.

    Sorry.... :)
