This actually took some time to get right: first of all the body is perched on a big soup can, I coated it with a light layer of white spirit and it actually is the third time I lit it on fire because of the first and second time, the flash of the camera showed the surroundings so I taped the flash off and got the result I wanted in two takes.

Don't worry about that guitar, it is a piece of crap construction grade plywood klunker. I was going to toss it in a dumpster but before I do I wanted to give it a rock N roll send off.

Hendrix was relicing the guitar with the neck attached. It is clear that, having you burned a neckless body, it cannot sound propperly:D

I'd say why not, as well. Maybe next time, float it out on the water and shoot a flaming arrow at it.

There's a tradition, according to some accounts.

Kind of reminds me of that scene in The Vikings of the Viking burial.
I'm thinking Jimi is looking upon all of this from the other side, and he's amused.

I went to a party once and the door to the guys' man cave had that burnt blistered paint look to it, on the inside facing into the room...

I asked how it got it to look that way and said he bought the door at a fire sale - literal fire sale.

It seemed back in his home town a neighbor burnt down his garage by accident and that door had been salvaged from the ruins as well just scorched on one side -facing into the fire ...

I wonder now was the fire victim trying to relic a guitar or the door on purpose and the whole thing got way out of hand.. I've heard of people doing the same thing with those small plumbing blow torch one can buy at home Depot. But mixing paint-thinner- and varnish that is usually in a working garage when one is doing wood finishing and a blow torch seems like a recipe for disaster.

jack, I once worked for a big box home improvement store (since closed) in Florida that sustained heavy fire damage. It seems that two employees in the paint department were disputing whether or not the contents of a gallon jug of Parks Mineral Spirits were flammable, or didn't bother to read the label or look up the MSDS in the store. To settle the point, one poured a small amount on the floor (...in the paint department, of course) and put a flame to it. You can imagine what happened next... some $350,000 damage to the store and the adjoining strip center.
