I must start by saying she wasn’t in the gym; I was listening on Spotify.

I was going to hit my normal playlist but there she was [on Spotify, not actually in the gym] so I hit play and started my workout.

I stuck with her through my warm-up, cardio, strength, stretching and warm-down & thoroughly enjoyed the music. There were a couple of tracks I skipped as they sounded like the ‘pop mix’ but the rest was just great country music.

Spotify has changed the way I listen to music but it also reminds me to revisit some of my favourites.

Anyone else revisited an old favourite and enjoyed the experience? Or has your musical tastes changed.

    :) Peter

She's one of the best " girl " singers to ever hit Nashville.
Her last few albums have been gems. But, they are too
damned good for " modern " country fans who seem
    to have tin ears.

    Interesting comment.

I’m reasonably open minded about ‘modern’ country but when you hear a voice as pure as Lee Ann Womack’s it makes you appreciate good country music.

‘A bit dodgy’? Are you suggesting the thread title was deliberately ambiguous?

I was about to write "Did she show you a thing or two in the gym?"

What I was thinking and how some of my MTB riding and skiing pals don't always recognize each others wives when they're not in bike shorts or ski clothing. In this case she probably has different outfits between stage and working out.

I once dressed for a job interview, then came down the stairs to my living room. Harley growled at me until he recognized me.

I do wish I could report back with something other than fantasy!

As I listened to the fabulous track ‘Twenty Years and Two Husbands Ago’ I felt happy & sad at the same time.

The melancholy in her voice had me melting.

The video isn’t too bad either:

I paid no attention to LeeAnn Womack whatsoever and couldn't figure out why the Castle Theatre in Bloomington, known for an edgy lineup, would book her last winter. Boy, did they sure know something I didn't.

I don't hear country, I hear country, blues, folk, gospel, soul all in one. What a cool sound and a gorgeous voice. Going to see her again in three weeks.

Our dog was freaked out when my daughter and I were very dressed up for an event. I thought it was really funny knowing a suit and tie used to be my daily work uniform.

I will on occasion pick a artist that I don't "get' and spend serious time "going deep" trying to hear what others do. This was pretty much a requirement when I decided to study music at the secondary level, my exposure to jazz other than "swing" big band charts was minimal, and my classical background was even less, lots of catch up then.

Now it's more for pleasure, first one I really sat down with was Robert Johnson, last was Janis Joplin. Next? probably The Band.. BTW long solo road trips are great for this.

Very talented, great voice, lots of conviction.

She does a really nice version of my favorite Rodney Crowell song, Ashes By Now. Otherwise, I’m not really familiar with her stuff.

Yes! This one was played as I was working out and I was trying to recall the original artist!

Rodney Crowell! Spookily he was the ‘let’s get reacquainted with artist’ I listened to - and downloaded - last week!
