Not many metal bands out there running Fender combos in the backline-tube or otherwise.

As far as digital, you'll find it is growing in popularity in just about every genre. It's not going to overtake traditional tube amps in the immediate future, but it's more than capable of delivering the goods for those that choose to utilize it.

Maybe so... but for a few bucks more you can find a real one of these. I’m sure techs will love seeing these come in he shop. I know my tech says their disposable amps and he usually has the person obtain a real amp and be done with it. But if people want to buy these more power to them. Fender will gladly take their money.

Not everybody is concerned with this whole "real amp" thing, though I do understand why many are wary of the new technology.

I think they tried this already with that bassman and deluxe? Forget what they called them. I see them used for near nothing now.

For years, I have dreamed of having an affordable Twin Reverb.. Thats my dream clean amp... I have never been able to save up, or I wont be able to buy and use it at home to enjoy that glorious loudness..

if I can get that tone, cheaply, and play both at home, and at gigs, and not get any hospital bill for broken back from lifting that heavy bugger, I'm all in..

In the last 50 years I have heard a great many guitar players get great and crappy sounds from a wide variety of tube and SS amps. I have also had good and bad luck with a selection of amps. I absolutely will not rule out good sounds coming from non-tube sources. I got a very good OD sound once from a 6 channel Peavy PA head I had to use in a pinch.

IF IT SOUNDS GOOD IT SOUNDS GOOD.

I’m amazed that your tech has seen these in his shop for repair. Given that they just hit stores this week.

I'm not in the market for a blackface amp--it's not the tone I'm looking for--but i like that these don't take the swiss army knife/1000 different amps ina box approach, which I just find distracting and tiresome. I've never entirely bought the "tube watts are louder than solid state watts" argument, but it makes sense they'd want to produce an amp with no power amp distortion, only modeled distortion. Seems like a good idea

What are people going to do when that “Massive” processor goes out?

Find a tech that actually has training in modern electronics to repair it.

Take it to a tech and replace the busted bits. You don't think they run on witchcraft do you?

They can’t be repaired. They have to be replaced. Well come back to this thread after the hype wears off. I’ll keep an eye out for a used one.

And you know this how? Only the low-end, budget stuff is designed to be cheap and disposable.

I thought that Twin Reverb Tone Master on the Anderton's video sounded very, very good.

Right, like a blown filter cap or a power transformer.

I worked at GC for three years anytime one of Fenders modelers came back they just replaced the whole amp and we sent the other one back. It’s cheaper to just replace the whole amp. Sometimes they went in the dumpster. Just going by actual experience with Fender and what they do with these amps. Now being these are pricey they might want them shipped back for repair. It’s funny all these amps of the digital variety always fade and good ole tube amps keep on earning that money. If I was going solid state I would go Quilter. Those are at least just a good made solid state amp with no processor.

The fact that people still cling to this belief that in the year 2020 where cars are driving themselves, information can be transmitted from space to earth via freaking laser beams, and people carry more processing power in their pocket than the fastest supercomputers of 20 years ago, the technology behind a nearly 60 year old amplifier is beyond our grasp to recreate is absolutely hilarious to me.
