After 29 years, three refies, tapped out line of credit, and putting 100k into my exwife’s Failed business venture, I finally paid it off.

Now I’m getting the bathroom painted and saving for the exterior.

    No more guitars.
    I mean it.
I swear I am telling the truth.

Congrats on such a feat! You should buy a celebratory guitar to mark the occasion...

Thank you gentlemen. I got divorced in 2005. I’ve been paying off the mess she created since then. In 2005 I got a 30year loan tony off the second mortgage and 30k line of credit the ex tapped without telling me. In 2011 I refined at a much lower rate.

I am tire kicking this weekend. Taking some to trade or consign.

    Congrats!

Don't forget to pay the taxes ... at least we worry since ours was done with our escrow via the house payment before.

I would think that paying off the house leaves you with more disposable income to buy gear.

The biggest lie there ever was.

Maybe not a lie ... if yer gonna finance a home might as well get the break ... but it is not the reason to do it.

We paid ours off a few months ago, about 10 years ahead of schedule. Still hasn't sunk in yet, buy yeah make sure you get straight with the the property taxes ASAP, it took a little while to get that sorted out with the bank and the county.

After 11 years I took the plunge and remarried. This time to a younger woman with a steady job, full medical benefits, and 40k in her personal account.

She loves music and is a great dancer.

I’ve contacted my home insurance rep. Property taxes are next. Looking for a good painter to do the home and garage exteriors.

My 109 year old house got a new roof in 2013. The last five years was new wiring, plumbing, and AC. All my spare cash went to the house.

Now I get $1,400 a month in my pocket. After the paint, the yard and landscaping are next. I can probably afford a new guitar when I’m 70 in six more years,

Good for you! We did it several years ago---having that house payment as "cash flow" changes a great many things!

Well done! What a feeling that must be. You really do “own you own home”.

Living in London UK, that’s a pipe dream until I sell up up and move out for my old age. :(
