    Hi guys!

I want to have my 2014 Ash BSB Road Worn 50s Tele body (not the neck) stripped and refinished in a nitro finish BSB, but with a VERY, VERY light relic finish (I will remove all hardware from the body).

I am in Birmingham, Alabama, and here are my wants (if possible :) ):

    1) Someone fairly close to my location.
    2) Someone who does professional work.
    3) Someone who has reasonable prices.
    4) Someone who will stand behind their work.
    5) Someone who can do the work fairly quickly (not take two or three months).

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Jerry

    BTW,

It's not ALL five of my wants or nothing :)

2, 3 or 5 will be fine, 2 and 5 will be fine, etc.

I don't know if he does refinish work, but you might try reaching out to Anthony at Lucky Dog Guitars. He's in Tennessee...not sure how far from you. He does amazing work on his own builds. If not, he might be able to recommend someone.

If you're not emotionally attached to the original body, you could do this for very little money if you find a body in the color/condition/weight you want.

Sell the Fender Road Worn to recoup most of the cost of the replacement body.

Al projects are 2 of 3 things - quick, cheap and good. So if it’s good and cheap it won’t be quick. If it’s cheap and quick it won’t be good. If it’s good and quick it won’t be cheap.

I have never dealt with them, and IMO they are a bit pricey, but these guys seem to be well regarded.

If memory serves, they'll charge $150 to strip and $299 to refinish your body.

This guy is in Tacoma WA and I've heard many good reviews. http://riggioguitars.com/finishing/

No idea on price or turnaround time. I've been meaning to send a neck there but haven't done it yet.

    Hi Peegoo!

The body weighs 3lb 8oz, and that is pretty rare.

That (plus the way the body/neck/bridge/saddles/pickups/locking tuners/etc. all intertwine with each other) might contribute to why the Tele when unplugged sustains and sounds great, and plugged in, it sounds far better than any of the multiple BSB RW's I've owned.

It might not sound that way after it's been refinished. Might be better, might be worse, might be exactly the same, but the parts won't fit together in exactly the same way regardless.

    Hi Sea Devil!

    I don't understand :)

This RW has been disassembled many times (neck from body, changing bridges/saddles, tuners, pickups, etc.)

Every time is has put put back together it sounds the same.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

Another one for MJT. They are always easy to deal with but since they only spray nitro it takes time. Cure time and then the polish/buff stage, checking, relicing if you choose to.

I wouldn't worry about it! I've done refins, at least one of which greatly reduced the amount of paint on the guitar. It needed some major changes to the set-up when I put it back together, but it still sounded the same. Yours probably will, too, but there's a chance - however small! - that it might change slightly.

True. Sorry, I missed the nitro requirement in your post...
