I would really appreciateany help in this manner as I have a performance coming up, and going to do a couple tunes. Have a drink on me and Shoot to thrill are looking like the tunes.
I have tried a couple at the Fuse sight ,but they,re not right too much gain, maybe I missed one or 2. I ll also try to work something out myself, but you guys are pros at this matching tones, my ears play tricks on me when I attempt it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Kend,

Have you come close to an ACDC tone you liked on a different amp?
Do you have a pedal that helped ?

Brit 80s (Marshall) lots of volume, low gain low treble big mids and a fair bit of bass. No Fx or pedals etc My ears seems to think that's close.

Are you using a Tele? It is a stretch to start with....working with a Tele and a Mustang...to turn them into an SG and a Marshall. Drubbings advice ought to get you part of the way there. You need one of those British school boy outfits or whatever it is he wears.

I've done plenty of YT views on Teles and AC/DC in order to justify getting one. It can be done easier than you think. Unless you start cork sniffing the tone.

This one goes alright.

I've found it difficult, as the real magic of an AC30 was in the setting of the brilliance control on the TB models - something missing on the Mustangs (for now)...

Also remember the AC30 by its nature is a low gain device - if that's the sound you are after, you may want to do as those guys did by overdriving the preamp. Brian May used a Korg digital echo to drive his AC30s into oblivion...

Wasn't the OP searching for ACDC tone?

You are absolutely right... my eyes saw ACDC...brain processed AC30...

never mind.

FWIW - if you listen to ACDC gtr tracks in isolation, you'll find they are way less distorted and processed than they seem

That better? ;)

The trick to nailing an Angus or Malcom guitar tone is to NOT use too much gain.

It's decieving. When you think of AC/DC guitar sounds, your mind automatically want to use lot's of Gain or Overdrive.

When really the guitars have a much cleaner , less distorted sound.

have you searched on the Fender site for Fuse? I'm sure there is someone out there who has tried the AC/DC sound and saved a preset.

ACDC is a real lo-gain sound so a tele can get you there if needed.

1: Roll the tone on the tele back a little. Just take the bite off
2: Not familiar with the Mustang, but love modelers. Is there a "Plexi" or "JTM-45" or "70's Marshall/British" option in there. If so - start with that.
3: Keep the gain low (under 5) and adjust the tone to taste without any added bass or treble - it's a really neutral tone. With a TELE, you may want to push the mids just a little.
4: No effects...

The Angus sound is just a little dirtier than the Malcolm sound. Otherwise the biggest difference is in the guitars they play.

The "Aussie rock" preset maybe?

That's Fenders version. I can't remember the factory settings as I've changed them, but it was pretty good from memory.

Angus' sound is mostly volume, as many have told me in the past. Just enough gain to dirt it up. That's why I crank the Marshall model and use little gain. I do the rest on the guitar. Running through a few well known AC/DC riffs, it sound pretty good to me even on a Strat.

Thanks guys for all the replies.

You guys are correct about not using too much gain and the Brit 80's model on the M3 seems close.
The Aussie preset doesn't do it for me for AC DC .

Jim, i'm strictly using the M3 .
Also , i'm using an SG not a Tele!

That vid posted above with the Tele sounds excellent though.

Thanks for the suggestions !

Aussie Rock preset for me (with my actual 61 SG) is about as close as I can imagine it gets to the album version of Shoot to Thrill. Plug my tele or strat in and it's just too thin.

I thought that video - while not too bad - still had an obvious single-coil sound to it.

A vintage-wound humbucker is really half the battle. Your '61 SG will work fine. I had a 1970 SG with the tar-back HBs and put it through a Vox Tonelab into a Champ with an older 10" speaker. I boosted the mids to compensate for the Fender scoop. (In the studio they are probably only mic'ing one of the Marshall speakers anyway.) I got an Angus sound pretty close, but the Malcolm sound was actually more difficult. Again, it's all in the pickups. Malcolm uses a Gretsch with a filtertron. The amp just makes it louder! :D

Seems like it would be easier on a Mustang III where they have Marshall pre-sets.
