Finally, I can relax. (pause , sigh, takes a deep breath).
I chose a new compressor stomp box after years of thinking about it,
does anyone else know how many choices that there are? How many claims, arguments
, explanations excuses juxtapositions that there are , really the vast number of confusing so called contradictory reasons?
    WELL, I did it.
I purchased the Keeley Compressor Plus Sweetwater LTD 4-Knob Compressor Pedal.
I am now the owner of a limited edition stomp box.
It's just like the regular compressor , but has a custom water themed painted top at the same price please take note of the self deprecating sarcasm

OK -- you finally came to grips and revealed your preferences ... came out of the "stomp box closet". Good on you!

ok be that way , I' gonna tell and as you know out come the brush,
no really.... moms gonna blister your hinny. If I want to induce a lot of noise into my guitar tracks I'd just turn of the noise gate.
turning off he noise gate is cheaper than buying a compressor of any make besides, there's a reason why Kelley compressor are used by so many guitar/slide players , you can tune the noise to the pitch of the key that your playing in and it sounds hand in glove with Digitech Gonkulator. The world famous Dynacomp really does nothing to enhance the harmonic content of the the WMD Gigercounter.
I had considered the the Dynacomp but the new ones are not the same as the famous ones , beside the plugin to your guitar body Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer are no longer available though JHS pedal makes a nice version of the original, but lacks the collectible Sweetwater Music custom pint job of the Kelley.
    A man has to have a code. . . ( I've obviously been busy)

An excellent choice. Probably the best compressor for the the buck. Enjoy and learn. Hey wait I just wrote this the other day. Someone else on here just bought one too.

I’m not sure which is more disconcerting - that ping-ping-clicka is posting a thread that’s not a music video, or the fact that he’s got a new avatar!

There are times in ones life where a single decision will set the course for the life that remains. Trials and triumphs, wins and losses, journeys and destinations. So glad to hear you made it through this perilous voyage.
    Congrats!

Wait, you have a WMD Geiger Counter? Can you talk about that a little?

I have watched some YouTube demos of those and while I am pretty tonally conservative, those things look like a LOT of fun.

Lets introduce a little CHAOS! YOU KNOW WHO SAID THAT.....

Yes the demos are probably so conservative to keep from scaring the horses and children away from potential sales

YES, you may or may know about synths not having memories to save patches, as you know it was a drag. The WMD Geiger counter is a very powerful tool , with very sensitive adjustments, so for me, having programmed a great tube amp sound, once the controls where changed it was very hard to duplicate the same sound again. The options are huge, massive , mine has 297 ? wave form to effect the sound.
It works for me when: I want to record a part, program the G.C. and then record the part, get it right prior to changing any parameters.
    PROS a very powerful tool
CONS no memory, expensive compared to DAW plugins that may not be as powerful ,

but the plugins can be saved .
Waves makes a series of Distortion plugins the work really well ,even better when combined with my of my other plugins.
I made noise for a while and still do when my medication and therapy aren't making it on a Ranzerox - MR-ID level. If you use a DAW check out Waves plugins. I have been using REASON since 1.0 (20 years ) now that it is up to speed I find it a simpler interface than (logic pro) for me , a dyslexic kind guy, to use and have a lot of fun with

    IF..... if ...
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:

I swear I love what a compressor can add to my slide playing. The dynamics kind of that breather during the proceedings, but the even my favorite distortion eats up some dynamics. I found a mighty interesting high gain distortion ( not a heavy metal Swedish death metal high gain, but even is run into a clean amp model turned up full blast the strings don't get all washed out and muddy, I can still hear all the notes inside the grindage.
EX GEAR Red Fury Distortion Pedal

I'm not that special, I have issues with overdrive, distortion, fuzzy-wuzzy pedals as the market of dirt illustrates so clearly.
a lot of pedals are killer for noise , but not many dirt boxes leave any space for slide intricacies.

Thanks for choosing Keeley! I hope this pedal is all you're after and more. You're right, with so many options out there these days it can be overwhelming simply googling guitar compressor.
