I love Gretsch, I love 335's, but this grosses me out.

Just an aside, but I hate playing sitting down, full stop. I almost cannot play in that position at all, because it throws my picking hand completely out of whack!

Yeah, I'm also not a fan of the "symmetric atrophied stumps" look. (And I don't like the 335 either, but for different reasons.)
And since we are mentioning our least favorite design decisions: not a fan of the "acromegaly forehead" upper bout look either. Our favorite guitar the Telecaster is kind of borderline there; Godin is a repeat offender in this category. They have this hideous bulbous shape instead of an upper horn, usually full of controls too.

Um - no! This is a REISSUE Model and not the real fifties or sixties issue. The girl in Josie And The Pussycats movie played the real thing (Rachael Leigh Cook). I keep looking for that guitar to come up from time to time hoping to see the tremolo as the one in the movie had none - the bar had been removed.

If it's a good reissue, it's a real one as far as I'm concerned. I'm a musician, not a museum curator or collector of movie guitars. I played a couple of the 53 duo jet reissues a few years ago and they were fantastic guitars, and absolutely hollow under the top. The pic that was in the OP had an archtop style floating bridge, so I know it's not one of the solid lookalikes gretsch sells now.

I don't know anything about the one in the movie and I never saw it, but the original ones usually had a Burns tailpiece.

For me, aesthetically, looking at a guitar on a stand is totally different than looking at a guitar on a player, the symmetry of the thing kinda goes out the window. I like the DC look, and wow I never knew these things were so hollowed out, will need to try one someday.

I have the guitar in the picture...swapped out the wiring, tuners and nut and is one of my sweetest guitars. Like the picture above....take it off the stand and I think it's sharp looking. I don't care for the non-tummy cut...but hey..Les Pauls, Teles...
It's actually smaller than a Tele or a Strat and the Chinese Filtertrons are nice... and yeah....I'm not some old grandpa strummin in their rocking chair. Rocking hard (my guitars now!!) since the 60's.

There were a whole bunch of these at Guitar Center Monday. Mostly the lower end ones.
None of them felt mostly hollow to me. Boat anchors one and all. Am sure they are not all thst way but I was quite surprised.

that's their best design. It is kind of an acquired taste I admit.
Got a 1996 G6128T-62 just like that. It is awesome and super light. A strap button was added on the neck heel and that takes care of the balance. Unfortunately, it is for sale... As is my 2005 G6128T-1957...

I thought it was only me!! The hottest spicy food doesn’t even compare to my “find a bathroom quick” panic like putting my glims on that Gretsch model!!
