I love Gretsch, I love 335's, but this grosses me out.

The only thing wrong with that is the toggle switches should have been done like the original 61's

Well, it’s much smaller than a 335 if that helps. It’s basically a double cut Duo Jet. Thus the name- Double Jet.

I think they’re cool looking, but they’ve gotta be oddly balanced with that strap button placement. I’ll stick with my Duo Jet.
That's what I have wondered also....

I've never been into the SG shape much. I like the Duo Jet much better though.

I’ve had a lot of SG’s. Love the way they sound and play. But they take some getting used to on a strap. They’re also weird in that (to me, at least) everything on the neck feels like it’s two frets to the left of every other guitar. I wonder if the Double Jet is like that, or if putting the strap button on the upper horn actually makes it more normal?

The body shape. It gives me diarrhea. Can't stand it.

I had a MIJ one of these for a while, but eventually flipped it. It was worth a considerable amount more than I paid for it and I wasn't using it much in the rotation. It was a great sounding guitar, though. Very light with a chambered body. Sometimes it would get that terrible reverberating feedback you can get with full hollow bodies, though. Maybe it was chambered just a bit too much. I always thought it looked cool in its own way.

I'm down to one Gretsch-adjacent guitar-- a Guild DeArmond M75T with its Duosonics. Now that is a fantastic playing and sounding guitar and is part of the reason I sold off the Duo Jet.

I agree. Because there is nothing better than tripping the mud switch every time I strum :D. I do love that version. The Jets only got Filtertrons in 1959 and sales were down on Jets generally by the end of the 50s so they are comparatively rare. The double cuts more so.

Love the cool double cut version. Reminds that a friend has a red one that he bought new in the 60's, at the ready under his bed to this day. As much as I love Gretsches, I find the bridge/saddles sit a bit too high for my comfort zone, but sure I could get used to it.
