I really like it too. It's just fun to play a neck with that radius.

So long as the radius near the nut is no more than say 12", I'm going to be all right. The exception might be a MIM Classic with the 6230 wire and a maple board, where the frets are well worn - that's a nuisance, and it isn't the small radius causing the problem.

I'm trying to say, at least for me, the problem is really large fretwire and/or a badly functioning set of frets or some twist in the neck. Otherwise, I'll get through OK. Which one I prefer is more individual guitars I abide by, more than others.

Good for funky chords and for wrapping your thumb around to fret the Low E or A strings. I do that a lot.

I really like a 7.25 with small frets but I can make 9.5 work if the frets aren’t too tall.

I guess the radius isn’t as much of an issue as fret size is

It's not for everybody but I don't have a problem with it.

Of course, but would you be able to tell the difference in a blind test? I would with my own guitars because the neck finishes are different, so is the fret size, plus they sound different even unplugged, but if all those factors were the same, I'm not sure I could tell them apart. But really I have no idea because I can't compare.

I play thumb over all the time. Almost everything that has a note on the low E gets a thumb. Barre chords, 7th chords, 9th,13th... And you don't need big hands to do that on either a 7.25 or 9.5 neck. :)

I prefer 7¼" radius and small frets, it's what I've played most for the last 45 years.

Love me a 7 1/4" radius neck; anything else feels wrong on a tele.

I've got a compound radius on my number one, so there's no tradeoff. 7 1/4" at the nut, going to something like 12" at the bridge saddles. ~9 1/2" around the 12th fret.

Mine is a 52ri from about 15 years ago, wonder what the radius was then.

Me too. I had a MCI Intertek RT2000 as my first guitar. Recently put it back together and realized it was 9.5". I have a '57 AVRI Strat from '96 and I swapped the neck to a 9.5" big headstock because the original was too orange, bothered me from the very beginning. I put that neck on a Japanese '57 RI body and I really liked how it played, more than the one I bought. I just bought/assembled a Vintera 50's Tele and bought a Vintera 50's Strat because I love the 7.25" so much. The soft V and fat U are nice too, I like thicker, rounder necks I guess.

I like 7 1/4 with moderately worn jumbo frets.

    Kind of a niche marketo_O

I love the 7.25" so much I am replacing my 9.5” radius with7.25”s. Just the edge of the 9.5” is so hard and sharp feeling. The roundness of the 7.25" is very comfortable to me. First I got a vintera '50s tele. I now have a Vintera 50's strat too, really love the 7.25”.
