Ok, so I can finally let this cat out of the bag. Some of you may remember when I did the baseball bat guitar for the charity auction in which Needtobreathe took part. That particular guitar sold for $45k, and the proceeds were split between 3 different charities. Well, NTB holds an event every year in Charleston, SC that benefits their particular charity, Palmetto Medical Initiative. After the success of the baseball bat guitar, I was asked if I would be willing to build a donation guitar for the Charleston event this year. I'm a firm believer in giving whenever I have the opportunity, and I actually try to give away a few guitars a year, so of course I said yes. I worked with Bear and Bo Rinehart (Lead singer and guitar player for NTB) to design a special guitar for their auction. We decided to do a guitar that emulates the cover art from their last album which is getting ready to be certified gold. It's called Rivers in the Wasteland. So I worked on it and came up with the guitar pictured above. The auction was held tonight, and I just got word about an hour ago that it sold for $31,000!!! I'm beyond stoked to think I had a part in raising that much money for such an incredible charity, and I'm just on cloud 9 right now. This is why I like to build guitars.
