Recently my aunt and her friend were talking about the drum circles that often start at the many disc golf gatherings they all attend. My aunt was trying to tell me how much I would love it, and her friend's response I'll never forget. He said something along the lines of "Weeeelll.... If you play actual music and or you know anything about real music, they're more irritating than anything."
With that he immediately earned my respect.
My thoughts exactly.....
“We found many folks start by experimenting with an egg shaker, or even a tambourine..." - beware of these gateway percussion instruments! Just say no...
I understand this is lampoon.
In all seriousness, I've never seen a drum circle.
Folks just get stoned and everyone plays hand percussion?
Like to whatever beat evolves?
This is a pretty b****ing one, but then it was a major scene.
They also pop up at more festive places. You've never been to a beach?
Not a very robust "music scene" here, but we have dumb circles in our town.
...now we need to put the same scientific minds to work on the "walking back and forth between 2 rooms trying to determine why one went to the 2nd room in the 1st place..." Yeah, right, and who ate all of the Oreos?
Here, watch this. They do this almost daily in Woodstock, NY...really.
No beats evolve. It starts as inaudible noise and continues from there.
oh, crap ! I forgot about disc golf !
I’m sure there are coupons for disc golf supplies that come with many bongs and coupons for bongs with many disc golf supplies.
You just described me between the ages of 16-18.
Of course the beginning, when it’s inaudible noise, is always the best…
Drum circles, the scourge of our times...
The OP’s linked article sure reads like something from The Onion...do those two publications share some editorial staff, I wonder?
“...haphazardly playing a djembe...” Love it.
Interesting. A way for folks to connect with other folks.
Probably not for me more than once, but they ain't hurting anyone.
hard times is like the onion. i like them and laugh at them both!
I do that daily, or stand looking in the fridge with a stupid look on my face, not knowing what the hell I wanted??
To me it's just another website where they have cool t-shirts for sale, but only in sizes that would have fit me in early grade school.
I thought the dirty hippie movement was over by now or is this something new?
I used to have a dombek, a large djembe and a small djembe.
I’ve cut down to only the small djembe.
Just trying to save a few brain cells.
