His first album "Forbidden Fruits and Vegetables" is one of my top ten alltime. It, and the new one you've mentioned, were both produced by our own James Pennebaker...

They recorded them both at JP's house, and a highlight during the sessions for the new one was Buddy Miller bringing Emmylou Harris by to do some overdubs. Emmylou brought her dog, and it had a little accident on James' carpet!

Ah, that crazy rock'n'roll life...

Cheers, Tim

Danny & I are on the same album! I did the guitar work for an artist out of Austin last fall. We tracked the majority in Austin, then they did a few more tracks in Nashville. Danny did some overdubs on one of the tracks that I did in Austin....kinda of a lead switch off deal....never got to meet the man though....also, David Grissom is on that track....way cool

Yeah, Danny played the song that will be the duet with Emmylou, but she wasn't here.

It was a really cool thing....this little showcase that I just saw. I feel very privledged. There were only about 40 people here, most of which are my co-workers. Very intimate.

UH OH

Was THE co-worker there?

I think "TheGoodTexan" is talkin' about the Danny Flowers that played lead guitar and sang Harmony with Don Williams for years.

I heard him play when he toured UK & Ireland with Don Williams some time in the late 70's.

Just Don on guitar, DF on lead (pretty sure he used a tele all night, and bass. Some show, and he was awesome guitar player.

I love Danny Flowers playing! I saw the Gentle Giant several times in the 70's and drove with a buddy 2 days from Phoenix in the early 80's to see him on Austin City Limits... his playing on I Believe in You is everything I love about guitar.... a truly tasty, cool player...

Good Texan, I'd love to hear how your visit goes... it should be a blast and I totally get what you meant when you talked to him... the whole kindred spirit thing... great thread!

I think I might have seen him once.......

back when I lived in SoCal I went to a Don Williams concert and he only had three people, himself, a bass player, and this skinny guitarist playing the hell out of a Strat. Would that have been Danny? What I remember most about him is how well and how much he bent strings, almost as if he had a set of .08's on that guitar. He played some beautiful and difficult bends and played them with a lot of precision and taste. It also sounded like he used a lot of compression.........JH in Va.
