Yeah the Stax sound has a special place for me. Oh if I could play like Cropper and Dunn, I’d be satisfied.

Been playing this solo lately, the lyrics are messing with me while playing. There’s something about this I connect with.

We could measure Soul in “Reddings” like we measure power in watts.

    Short but great set.
Live in Europe is a great, great record.

The woman announcer is so excited to have Otis on this show I thought she was going to pass out.

Steve Cropper was such a perfect match for Otis‘ sound! Amazing guitarist! I love Otis Reddings‘ version of 6345789. all though it‘s a cover it‘s just got this swinging groove! Love it!

When I think of Stax I think of simple parts arranged brilliantly around great tunes.

I remember trying to convince my friends in high school that the OTHER side of Jimi at Monterey kicked ass...but they couldn't dig it.

Stax was before my time but I found Otis, which led me to the label.
Then you find all the other tremendous Artists that were on Stax.

I have 9-CD set collecting all the Stax/Volt singles. There is not one track on there that I would skip past. It’s an absolute joy to listen to, and the guitar and bass playing is still outstanding and something to aspire to.

I love when the transition from 6/8 to 4/4 on this track when Otis, horns and rhythm section rally start kicking this ballad into gear.
