Been playing this solo lately, the lyrics are messing with me while playing. There’s something about this I connect with.

Steve Cropper was such a perfect match for Otis‘ sound! Amazing guitarist! I love Otis Reddings‘ version of 6345789. all though it‘s a cover it‘s just got this swinging groove! Love it!
When I think of Stax I think of simple parts arranged brilliantly around great tunes.
Apart from Otis ... that rhythm section and the horns are just sublime on this track
I remember trying to convince my friends in high school that the OTHER side of Jimi at Monterey kicked ass...but they couldn't dig it.

Stax was before my time but I found Otis, which led me to the label.
Then you find all the other tremendous Artists that were on Stax.
I have 9-CD set collecting all the Stax/Volt singles. There is not one track on there that I would skip past. It’s an absolute joy to listen to, and the guitar and bass playing is still outstanding and something to aspire to.
I love when the transition from 6/8 to 4/4 on this track when Otis, horns and rhythm section rally start kicking this ballad into gear.
