Fits fine imo...width, height, etc. I asked to reverse the pairs (like a Rickenbacker), squeeze the pairs closer together and spread the 6 pairs wider across the width of the neck. All seems basically perfect.
TWO minor nits...the high E pair is a little close together and the A pair is SLIGHTLY further apart.
Understanding the extra precision cutting 12 string slots...should I ask to have a new nut cut to fix the pair spacing with those two strings? I'm totally happy with everything else....actually can't feel it playing...but my visual OCD is kicking in. What says you nut cutters?
Btw...this is a custom Zero Glide from Goldtone. $75 for custom spacing. Their
"regular" choices are $35.

Btw...it's not glued in yet...and a mm might be sanded off the width...but purely for looks. It extends to the binding edges nicely...pictures make it look a bit wide.

It looks fine.
I always tweak nut slots by eye after using the Stew-Mac spacing ruler (my only S-M tool).
I'm never sure if center-to-center should be the same measurement because it makes the fatter strings look off...
I also have a cheapie Epiphone that I love and I think the bridge was drilled wrong and all the strings are skewed toward the bass side, leaving the high E quite far from the edge of the fretboard.
When I forget how it LOOKS, I realize that I can't feel it if I try.
Yeah...yours is fine.

I think the StewMac ruler is to guide the spacing as the fatter strings are spaced wider. There is a 9/10th rule that I can't really explain. But that's why I'm asking the pros here. Ive never cut a nut....but only replaced with pre slotted.
I've NEVER had a 12 string cut perfect (to the eye). Some have been horrible over the years.
This current one...as seen in the pics...the high E bugs my OCD as does the narrowness of the pairs on the lowered wound bass strings to be too wide.
This is very close and if I haven't seen perfect...I wouldn't speak up.

Yeah...I get it.
I've never done a 12 string.
I've also never bought a pre-slotted nut.
I think my way would always be different.
I've been a mechanic my whole life and I'm used to small clearances. In some situations, .004" means completely worn out and looks like a space you could drive a truck through.
I do, though, TRY to remember, if you can't hear it or feel it, it basically doesn't exist.

Yeah...there's much more to give attention in our lives, than to string spacing on a budget friendly guitar. I've looked at Rickenbacker 12s...and most are just beautiful to justify their hang tags. But some have issues that are worse than a Chinese, $100 student model....orange peel finish, sloppy binding...and yes ..the 330 Rics have such skinny necks to be unplayable, that this nut "alteration" is common. Unfortunately Rickenbacker nuts won't fit my Guild....too narrow and a couple mm short on width.
I DO prefer and notice the string reversal Rickenbacker does, on the octave pairs. Doing a lot if downstokes makes that feature especially noticeable.

OT...supposedly these GoldTone zero frets have had stories of premature denting.... That they now offer stainless, as does StewMac. Time will tell.

I think I'll shoot some pictures to Goldtone with a friendly comment and see what they say...and ask about the stainless fret before I might need it
