    Sorry I fell behind.

As far as the questions I missed, no, no, maybe no, yes, wtf, never.

Well, Toto'sDad ... you did just manage there to answer David Byrne's long standing rhetorical question.

"Everybody's got to be somewhere, exactly how they are."

"How" doesn't seem to be so important, does it?

Wicked, excluding mine just above, I have this scored as 6 new answers, but eight questions. Just so you know.

Here's a poorly played clip of the silver tele with the bender. Sound quality is horrible too.

Not sure, I'd have to go back and look at the recorded track. I usually record direct and use plugins and stuff for echo and compression, sometimes I'd stack a couple of tracks of the same exact performance, but with different effects, and blend them.

As far as guitars and stuff, basically stock, stock pickups unless it came with something else when I bought it.

For live, I would just crank a Twin or something a little with some delay and maybe a little compression, basically the same sound. But I'm never going to play live again.

    Crappy cam corder mic:

James ... not that I'm at a loss of words ... or opinions here.

Sorry you're burnt on live performances, can relate.

How does one achieve that etheric yet dockered over, seventeen take, three days and nights effort of a self-produced, self engineered three minute number – through last week's put away wet 'n worn-out house PA, with an alien sound guy controlling something you can't even hear from stage, while playing?

You think you sound bad through that cam-corder mic ... compared to what?
The Stones at Redrock on the Miss You Tour truly sounded like dung. Million dollar state of the art wet cardboard. Heart, every performance. (monitor lag, completely out of rhythm with each other) The Kinks were too drunk to tune up. Or care, apparently. Get into jazz and the music lends itself to more care, but I'm sure those players are covering up their own secret inner disgust with no certain amount of basic studio precision envy. I saw Pat Metheny at the Hollywood Bowl but that was one in a million, concerning sound quality.

Your fans don't give a **** about all that. They are there to see/support someone they believe in, and already know what their hero is capable of/has done.

I've been checking out your el dorado via youtube off an on today. It's really kinda good. Keep forging that sound you already have inside you. Some of us really like whats coming out. Record or live.

Mistaken, not burnt out on live performances. Just a choice based on efficient use of time.

    or distance? ;)

When I stopped playing post SF, and settled down to an apartment, had a visit
from a road weary friend. He said "You have a cat!" "You have plants!!!"

I looked at him a bit and said: "and you stand four feet above screaming, adoring fans six nites out of seven, enjoying something entirely different."

    'sall good, Wicked.

Why do people on the internet think having one guitar is bad and makes you an inadequate player jealous of everyone who has alot of gear?

Wow, cool thread. Bought this album back in the mid-80s. I think it's in a box in the closet.

Did you manage to get the CD? Seems like it's only available used on Amazon.
